jd1983 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2014 I am looking at a North Carolina yellow sally pattern that calls for poly fiber. Not many places sell poly yarn in yellow so what product am I looking at purchasing? I see Aero Dry Wing might work but it is expensive! What about Z-Lon or Uni-Yarn? Am I missing something? Bugsy 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2014 It seems we've moved away from the old "poly" (polypropylene) yarn over the years. It's still available, as flytire stated, and it's economical. What I don't like about "poly yarn" is its opaqueness relative to other options. EP Trigger Point Fibers is one alternative I like. Not only does it have the luster poly lacks, it has the ideal texture for small patterns. Offered in many colors, including "yellow sally." Not cheap, but a package will go a long ways. On the less expensive side, Widow's Web is another (and better, IMO) option to poly yarn. More coarse in texture compared to Trigger Pt Fibers, but still good for 14/16/18. A few bucks buys a big hank.

phg 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2014 I'd use Antron over Z-lon. Antron is still tri-lobal, but less kinky. You could also use yellow buck tail. Polar fiber might be another choice, although you would probably have to trim the finished wing to get a good shape.
