Been wanting to whip finish tool with a larger gap then the one we bought at Cabelas. Finally got it done and made one! Post.

Wanted one with a larger gap specifically to whip finish the foam grasshopper. Been doing it old school and tying whip finish knots with the hands. Going to use this one going forward but still good to know how to tie a whip finish without a tool, too!

For anyone interested and in the area - Bethany Lakes in Allen, TX, hosting an informal fly tying demo on how we tie a foam grasshopper. No set agenda; simple and easy to tie... can demo other patterns we have posted about if desired. Event.

Demo went well. Not a big turnout but still fun, even caught a couple of fish using one of the fishing flies tied during the demo! Post.
