FliTrap4 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2016 I use one for bigger flies, mostly! Never any trouble with it, for all the same reasons noted! I've had other vises that I simply wore out the nibs, and to date, had to buy the replacement parts or move on to something else, as they all looked at it as "normal wear". Yes.... put a lot of hooks through those vises! and the Number one cause of excessive wear, it typically, mis-seated hook or wrong adjustment when switching between hooks! I did have a "no-name" vise "pop" the tips of once for same reason! One on 16 years of tying!
petelangevin 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2016 I have had 2 regal vises in the past, never had issues with jaws spitting out hooks. Loved the simplicity, now i was fascinated with the revolution when i saw many of the pro tyers using them at the big travelling fly show. I have yet to tie on one so i can't really give an opinion, but i will say they are well built.
