It can be used on several different dental materials that are curable by light. The light used falls under the visible blue light spectrum. Does it work on UV cured resin? Yes. Loon, Deer Creek, CCG and nail UV resins I use the Demetron 500. A few years ago many of the dentist went to the rechargeable LED Curing lights. I asked my dentist if he had any and he gave me 5 of them. Most of the hand pieces were cracked from use but very serviceable. I gave most of them away to friends but kept the Demetron 500 I have seen them used on Craigs for as low as $35. There is a Demetron 401 on Ebay for $50. I would ask my dentist or his office manager if they have any stored away. You may need to replace the bulb which run about $20. If you can get one of the plasma curing lights, that is the prize. Kimo 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Just a note. The Loon UV Mega Light does not work as well as th CCG Premium 3-Watt UV Light. It is because of the batteries, AA's for the Loon and CR-123 for the CCG. Buy the CR-123's off of Ebay. The Loon light does not last as long. The batteries slowly deteriorate with diminished capacity where as the CCG works really well and then just dies when the batteries are drained.Kimo
Meeshka 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Exactly Kimo! When I upgraded I found that I had 5 Demitron Optilux 500 curing lights just lying around, 1 went into my lab, 1 into my tying room, and the other 3 I think I just plain lost somewhere. If your DDS/DMD upgraded they are probably just hanging around in his/her basement. Doug
FKROW 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 I suggest not using CR123 batteries,,, they do not last very long and must be discarded. My preference is the rechargeable 18650 single cell, length of two CR123 cells. Purchase better quality made in Japan and they will last for over 500 charges. Various brand names in the higher price range are all made by Panasonic in Japan. The made in China batteries are not very reliable and do not last as long. One can also find rechargeable batteries for the AA size used in Loon lights. Regards, FK

I have one that came with my Ultrafire UV flashlight, but it's very cheap, and I'm sure that it will kill the battery before too long.
FKROW 0 Report post Posted January 6, 2017 I use a Nitecore charger,, they have two models that I really like,, two battery model D2 and four battery model D4. They are smart chargers with LCD screen,,, automatically shut off when battery is fully charged. Well worth the investment if you also have flashlights with CR123 and AA size batteries. These chargers will accommodate Li-Ion, Ni-CD, Ni-MH in all the popular sizes. The Olight or other comparable 18650 batteries are made by Panasonic in Japan, I like the 3400 mAh capacity protected design. Two batteries, one in the light and one on standby. The cheap Chinese chargers will deteriorate Li-Ion batteries and not give maximum life. Regards, FK

I have a very good LaCrosse smart charger, but it only handles AA and AAA. I'll probably buy the Nitecore D2. I only have one 18650 device, and I don't charge it that often.
