Found in the yard ..

Recommended Posts

One thing that you might want to do is have a separate plastic storage box to quarantine road-kill, road-finds, yard-finds, material from questionable sources, etc. Keep paradichlorobenzene moth crystals (available from a good hardware store) in that box to ward off bugs...I keep para in all my storage boxes of natural materials.

Any materials I find I nuke in the microwave for 3 seconds twice waiting about 15 seconds between then I put it in the freezer for two weeks.

Road-kill has the potential to deliver your natural materials a really bad day if they contain any parasites or bugs.

I have witnessed first-hand what a free road-kill feather can do to a dozen expensive hackle necks.......I learned my lesson the hard way 30 years ago.
