Where to find a List of Protected Species?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there is a List, website, something or some where I can find what is legal to own or buy? For example, can I buy a Jungle Cock Cape and legally own it in the USA? I know of protections on stuff like polar bear and what not. Guess I'm looking for a little light reading.

Thanks.

You can buy & own fancy materials if it comes with a cities certificate! I have cities certificates for Junglecock & Polarbear! Just keep the certificates, when the materials run out, you might find some on the cheap?

Specifically for fly tying, no, because people will use what ever they can get their hands on. Even protected species are somehow desirable because some pattern calls for it and few seem capable of substituting.

But there are plenty of list of protected species.

Just type in what you did for the header into a search engine of your choice.

And welcome to the site.

Jungle cock is legal in USA if it was raised here or if it is old and imported before the ban. If you live in the US what you may possess also varies state to state. In South Carolina I can shoot doves. They make great flies. In NY there is no dove season. They are a protected species. Protected species may vary by where you live.
