  1. Hey all, Thanks for all the advice. I am 100% mobile and able to go anywhere.... so any and all advice is appreciated. As far as camping, i dont require anything more than a spot to park the truck and hop in the back. I usually bring a few jugs of water along so water is never an issue. Having fished in Mongolia, slovenia, and romania, I have been spoiled with solitude. Sonce i have such a liarge chunk of time, I am happy to spend a few days fishing some of the more well known rivers but am also hoping to find some spots that are more secluded. Id like to hike into a few rivers if possible and have a few 2-3 day trips or just some over nights. Thanks again for all the tips. Feel free to provide more!
  2. Hey everyone, I am willfully unemployed this year after having lived internationally for the last 6 years. I am currently in Cali, and will be heading toward Montana for Midmay through June... into July if i want! I am just hoping to collect some good information from all of you of where to fish, what to fish, and where to camp. After having lived in Mongolia for so long, I have had so many of my Montana friends who have guided there tell me how similar the two are. The difference is, I doubt you are able to camp wherever you want in Montana... or can you? I am a little concerned about camping for cheap and near fishing Have a truck... dont have a boat. Would love to hear from you all! Cheers
  3. yep... tied a bunch of those too. Its a pretty short hook so it works well.
  4. Has anyone use or tried these hooks? I absolutely love them! They are really slim and hook up super nice because of the big gap... although im sort of out of ideas for dry fly patterns to tie... I have them in sized 12,14,16, and 22.... I have used them for elkhair CDC and a lot of different parachute designs using a lot of biot bodies and cdc or deer hair wings. Only photo I have is taken with a medium format film camera I will try to see if the old iphone can get a few photos of the other patterns.
  5. these videos are from my friend Zsolt. He lives here in Romania about 4 hours or so from Bucharest. He ties some very nice flies and is really active in the community... hoping to fish with him before before summer is over!

  7. Flies to (hopefully) catch mongolian taimen
  8. If any of you are interested, Wolly Ireland on facebook posted a how to in german on tying this fly! He sent me a few... They look fantastic😁
  9. You know, i found that using a really thin zip tie instead of mono was a nice solution. Stiff and durable
  10. Hmmm i dont see the photo showing. Il try again a last time!
  11. Hey all, Little update, besides these Italians and Branko ( Most Na Soci, Slovenia), i found another guy who ties these patterns. If i recall he is a German living in Ireland. Super nice guy. Here is one of his flies and a link to his fb page. https://m.facebook.com/OutlawFlyfisher/
  12. I see this fly much more here in Europe than i ever did in the USA. My friends seem to have luck with them as Lucian said, in the faster water. I have tied up a few and will give them a try this week in Slovenia
  13. All valid points. The point of my post was indeed to see if there was any more information out there on this style and to call attention to a unique and interesting feature. That is what i meant by "completely different"... The method, not what it imitates. All of what was posted, unfortunately, is what i myself have found as well, with the addition of a couple more sites even. Ive been skunked with multiple flies just to tie on one of these and find success. Love having a few in my Box ( and terrified of losing them ) I am hoping I can convince Branko to show me how he ties it, although He has tied a few flies for me in the past and i was to enthralled to make mental notes. Branko ties some other very cool patterns. I will post A few soon and maybe you all can backwards engineer his other tricks that ive had trouble imitating.
  14. Mikechell, In fact, they are completely different flies. The branko tied fly uses only hackle, whatever synthetic braid, a and cdc. No foam. The hook is tied on a little loop so it swings freely. I have fished both these flies and the woven one was more productive and behaved differently in the current. I understand skepticism but you may hold off on your naysaying until you have fished it Furthermore, I am curious person. I am not claiming this is a solution... its just an alternative. Knowledge is power!
  15. Here is another website ive found. There are 3-4 More like it but none with detailed instruction! I may have to pay branko off To get a lesson! http://www.moschefacocchi.it/en/creations.html
