Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2018 Had a nice float down the Flat River, a great smallmouth river in West Michigan. Caught bass steadily all day long, most in the 12-14" range. Since the river is so broad and the current mostly gentle, I decided to try fishing from the moving boat (a first for me on a solo float) and discovered that I could do it pretty easily, and caught all of the day's biggest fish that way. As an added bonus, all the fish were caught on a fly my son tied. I enjoy the whole Up North trout scene, but I have to say, I think I love the smallmouth rivers near home best of all. There's just something about them, and those fish, that pleases me to no end. Great day on the river; can't wait to get back out there.
Philly 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2018 Nice looking smallie and river, Byron. All I've caught this year has been largemouth. I guess I need to get out on my local creek, as soon as it clears up from all the rain we've had the last couple of weeks.
Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted June 4, 2018 Nice. As much as I love trout there simply is no denying the excellent fight a good smallie puts up
