  1. She's really gonna love it. Uncle Steve Jeremy
  2. I'd have to say that native Brookies are my favorite. The colors on them are fantastic. We don't have cutts or bulls around here. Jeremy
  3. Send them to me. I tie small flies . Jeremy
  4. I dont use my kits at all. I bought them when I started but found they were not exactly what I needed. I find that I just buy the types and colors that I need and it's alot easier. Jeremy
  5. Bead head caddis. Always a killer. Jeremy
  6. Welcome. It's a great place to get and share info. Jeremy
  7. Parachute Adams. Great fly. Imitates probably more mayfly hatches than any fly. Works as an emerger and a dry. Then either X-caddis or EHC. Never leave home with out these. Jeremy
  8. I would start with some dia riki (060) 1x and (730) 2x nymph hooks size 10-16. The 730 work for bead heads. Get some hares ear dubbin, turkey wings, and gold rib and pheasant tails for HE nymphs. Pheasant tails which work for HE tails, and pheasants tails are very important. PT nymphs use peacock herl thorax, gold wire and pheasant for the body and tails. The hares ear dubbin and a copper bead work nice on a tmc 2488h for a caddis nymph. Different color wires work for copper johns. Very important fly. I'm sure people will add more. Just my starting point for ya. Jeremy
  9. That's very interesting. I've haven't seen a PT with a ostrach as the thorax. I like the way it looks and it looks easy to tie. Thanks. Jeremy
  10. Congrats Tom. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Jeremy
  11. That's pretty cool. Looks like a cross between a PT and a HE. I may have to tie some up. Jeremy
  12. I have the same boxes fishboy. I line the whole side with return address labels and write on them. Same thing, only different. I am starting my 4th hook box. Thats just trout hooks and a few steelie hooks. I may start bass flies soon. I guess I'll need another box. Jeremy
  13. THanks Old Hat. I know patterns like Eggs and the like will work but I was thinking of stuff like Steelie Stones with bright pink and purple thorax. I will tie some of the traditional wets and see where it takes me. I tie some soft hackles in the traditional patterns like orange and partridge and the like. I guess it's time to experiment. Thanks Jeremy
  14. Thanks Mike. I like to tie some of them with the bright floss bodies. I am going to get the recipe for the march brown wet. I guess I can tie the same type of pattern with hares ear dubbin and a turkey wing. I think I'll try it. Thanks Jeremy
  15. I'm tying winged wets now and wanted to know if I have to follow the patterns? I found patterns on Global Fly Fishers web site and don't know if i have to follow those patterns or just make things I like. Are fish that particular? Is it the specific combos of colors or just bright colors? I know we mostly tie for the fisherman and not the fish but you never know. I know that Steelie patterns wont work for trout so I don't want to waste time on my own when they won't work. Thanks Jeremy
  16. Welcome, there is alot of info here to be had. Lets see some of your and your daughters flies. Jeremy
  17. Happy Thanksgiving to you too. Be safe in your travels. Jeremy
  18. I was told that the Nikon is a better camera due to the image sensor being larger. I can get the d5000 with 2 lens for 900.00. I might get it as an early christmas present. Thanks for the help. Jeremy
  19. Thanks you both for the info. I spoke to a camera store in my area and they carry both brands. They don't carry the T1i however. They feel the D5000 is better and has a larger light sensor or something in it. They feel Nikon is ahead of canon too. The Nikon is probably the way I'll go. I'm going to look on Wednesday at them in person. I'll still take any advice I can get. Jeremy
  20. Hello all, I'm looking at either thte D5000 or the T1i. I'm looking to the pros here for a little help. It's my first DSLR and I'm torn between them. The T1i has more pixels and great features and the D5000 has a rear view finder that turns. I'm sure it more about brand choice for most but I don't care. They are both good cameras but I was wondering if someone knows something that I don't. THe big point right now through the 21st of this month is Canon has a rebate on the package. I don't want that to sway my choice. I want the better camera. What do you think. Thanks Jeremy

Nice fly. I really like the colors. What do you use for your heads? It say's laquer, is that nail polish? Jeremy
  22. WOW I'm jealous, I just started Steelie fishing and I have a long way to go. I guess I should get off the computer and start tying. Jeremy
  23. Fantastic fly. I just started to tie wets for Steelies. I may have to copy this one. Jeremy
