  1. Still a good deal. I did find it cheaper on fleabay, but the shipping is the same as the buy it now price.
  2. I remember reading about someone pulling a Piranha out of the Delaware a couple of years ago. The fish wouldn't have survived long, but people need to stop throwing there Aquarium fish into local waters.
  3. I think you need to send me the popper for testing  I'll let you know if it works Then I'll return it... really I will
  4. Is that with all fish or just the tilapia?
  5. Oh sure rub it in. You get to live on a Tropical Island. I live in a state surrounded by PA, DE and NY. Uhh wait that's some of the best fishing in the Mid-Atlantic. Never mind It took a lot of beer to get me on the plane for the eight hour flight to Oahu. Even more beer and a couple of shots of whiskey for the return trip, LA was experiencing a small rumbler during our approach and there was a wicked storm over the east coast. Did I mention I hate flying
  6. Hatchery near Swartswood? Is that the Paradise fish hatchery you speak of in PA??? I believe that may be the one. I've never been there, but I know it's not in Jersey.
  7. This is assuming you're talking about tying dry flies! Not everyone does! looks like the tail feathers might make some nice fletching.
  8. Tied a few of these for a swap last night. My son loves to fish these during Summer Camp. On Little Swartwoods Lake in Sparta NJ, the Pike hammer these things. He then fishes them at a nearby Hatchery and always brings me home a Big Brown, Any fish the kid catches has to go home with them. No catch and release.
  9. (Climbing onto my Soapbox) There is nothing wrong with a little conservation. I support TU, does that make me an Animal rights Nut-Roll? It drives me nuts when someone does the sacrificial Trout routine to find out what they are feeding on. A stomach pump works just as well. I fully support hunting, but disagree sending a specific predator into extinction because it competes for the large game people like to hunt. Manage our resources saves them for the next generation of Hunters and fishers. NJ protected Black Bears until we had a sustainable population. The Deer population here is insane. My pro-hunting philosophy never clashes with my pro-conservation philosophy and I'll be happy to argue both sides of the coin. (Getting of my Soap Box now) As for the vest. I've been think of moving away from them myself. How many fly boxes do you need to carry anyway? I think I brought eight with me on my last trip to New York and really only used two maybe three streamer patterns. I'm currently reading "The Little Red Book Of Fly Fishing" Quote from Page 145. Tip 164: Lightening the load. Considering the current proliferation of flies, it isn't all that far-fetches to suggest that the well-supplied angler might need to rent a forklift to transport all his boxes to the water Never have there been so many fine flies to entice both the fish and fisherman. Anyone with a bit of imagination and a fat wallet can load up in a hurry. Which basic patterns do we choose? The traditional Adams represents most dark-colored mayflies. A Pale Morning Dun pattern takes care of the lighter ones. Elkhair caddis in various sizes a shades cover the water for that species. beneath the surface, a Gold-ribbed Hare's Ear nymph represents a variety of insects. A Pheasant Tail to mimic mayflies, a caddis larva, caddis emerger, and various sizes of stoneflies, and youve got what you need for most situations. An assortment of attractor patterns should handle the rest. - Charlie Meyers I posted a Poll on the Talk Fly fishing Forum regarding the Use of Vest or Lanyard and found it interesting how many people posted they use the good'ole Fanny-Pack.
  10. Never tied a parachute style fly. But I'm willing to give it a shot with a Klinkhammer figure size 18
  11. Some idiot thought it would be a great idea to tie feathers into ones hair and charge the sucker a boat load of money for doing it. This of course has become the latest fad, there by causing the price of Hackle to go up. Some one actually claimed to have thought the idea up all by herself too. Funny but I think the style was first created by the earliest settlers to this land some 10,000 or so years ago.
  12. The Woolly Worms are done and will be in the mail tomorrow.
  13. Sorry, but I just couldn't resist. I tried, really I tried  I do agree spam is a problem
  14. Received 2 very nice sets flies today. One was from this swap, I really don't want to fish them, but that big brown worm is just asking to get wet. I was surprised to see 2 of my own in there. You could have kept them. Thanks for hosting, bertgwen.
  15. I'm glad you like them. I wound up tying 12 more for anther swap. Seems like each one looks better than the last.
  16. Received my flies today. Really nice set of bugs. Added the two poppers to my Popper Box and realized I'm gonna need a bigger box. Same holds true for the foam bugs, I'm running out of room. I may have to frame a few.
  17. Flies were dropped off at the Post Office first thing this morning. Thanks for Hosting BB. After tying 2 dozen Royal Wullfs, I think I may finally have the pattern down to where I'm feeling comfortable tying the darn things..
  18. One of the reasons I miss Idaho. I think I was 3 maybe 4 when I saw one of these guys on an outing with my dad and uncles. Funny what I can remember from my short time there.
  19. Looks like I might get a chance to use those stamps you sent me But I'd rather keep'em.
  20. Would the hair that I comb from my dog be considered new or recycled? The stuff makes great dubbing and I seem to have an endless supply. The hair from his tail is long and perfect for streamers, of course he hates when I brush out his tail, to many knots. I've used the Bead Chains from my light fixtures in the past to make a few flies. The wife is starting to get suspicious as the chains get smaller and smaller
  21. There was a book out, I think it was called Tying Garbage Flies. I could be wrong though. The Author tied flies using discarded materials. So the idea is an interesting one and one that I have not seen posted yet.
  22. Here is the list for the new box, I'll keep updating it as the responses come in. The order that I receive the responses will be the mailing order as well. 1: Trez 2: C Teeter 3: 4: 5: 6: 7: 8: 9: 10: 11: SM: rich5665
  23. I heard from BDH and FF13 back in February when the Mystery Boxes started vanishing. I haven't heard anything since. Hope all is well.
  24. I've started a fly box with just flies that I have received from you. It's started to get pretty full Bob. :headbang:
  25. Works for me. I'm in with an Olive Bugger
