Matty calls it a foam baitfish but I have heard the name crease fly before, maybe you are right, not sure. Will have to give it a shot myself. Thats what I know them as. Whatever the name I really like how they work in the water, I am going to make more of them when I get a chance.

You mean a crease fly? Yeh I have had one in my box for at least 2 years now and yesterday tried it out for the first time. I really liked how it worked, it got the attention of a bass on her bed but she would not bite.

Good point about in vegitation. Now I guess someone is going to have to come up with a good subsurface frog pattern.
-
I don't know if anyone else has seen this but most of the frog patterns out there are topwater. I personally have never seen a frog swim across the surface. Whenever I see one jump in the water they imediatly head for the bottom and swim along the bottom. Maybe I just am not seeing many frogs but this was an observation I had.

Yep it should work

Wuss and proud of it To be honest only the flys I had with me today are barbless. Something tells me I won't get around to the 100 or so other flys and all of the flys I tie from now on. Once the finger heals I probably will curse myself for taking the barbs off.

Can I change my answer. went fishing today and now I am having a hard time typing because for the first time in many years I hooked myself. Put a Sz. 8 streamer hook with barb into my right index finger and I got to say if I had not had a barb I would not be missing most of the skin off the tip of the finger right now... ouch. Now all of my flys are barbless BTW

I hear ya. The weather is nice, maybe tomarrow I will be able to get out and do a little fishing... maybe

I guess tomarrow I will have to give Midlothian a try and see if they have started biting since last week. Otherwise I will call my buddy who lives out there and see about fishing this pond that is near his new place.

congrats I have not had any luck this season with crappie. all my normal lakes have not started producing yet.
-
Very nice. I need to get to making some poppers.

See this is why I don't like fish finders, you know the fish are there and then you can't use the excuse "I guess they are not here" I am guessing you are going to be trying for the big Browns soon though.

Dang school. I want to get down there and hit up some saltwater fishing.

I think I was about 10 when I first started. Dad and I tried out this new pond by our house and all we found were small bluegill. Dad goes home and gets this strange looking rod called a flyrod. I catch a bunch of small bluegill and some very strange to me looking fish that I now know are golden shiners. I still fish that pond as often as I can. Oh yeh I am almost 24 now, dang 14 years of this.

Looks killer

Crazy Charlies in brown, smallish. Do you have sandfleas/molecrabs? if so put a little orange in them and that will represent eggs in a female.

I have 3 lamps. Well they all come from the same area but I bounce most of the light off the white wall behind my tyeing area.

Thats good news.

It is Jeffs killer crappie fly. I was supposed to enter it into the crappie swap but I ran out of time. I finally am getting around to tieing a bunch up for this season. Really I think it is a copy of another streamer. Basicly flashaboo tail gray body back bucktail wing with black thread, very simple yet extremly effective. I had a few crappie come from 6ft of water and jump out of the water because of the momentum they had trying to hit it last season.

I have a streamer that I tie for various fish that uses rabbit dubbing for the body. Whats if any the best Chenille to replace it? I don't mind the dubbing but I would rather use chenille because it is more uniform for me and quicker to tie with. Or would some kind of floss work?

Looks like it will work.
