Thanks Mike! Its pretty noisy. The front face has a coating of epoxy to give it some serious pop. It was a fun tie, especially on a 9/0 hook!

I use a ton of it! At the price you can get it for it works out great. Plus as a bonus you can use it on the weekend (ask PJ). Jeremy I get all mine from a local shop. The best place Ive found online has been Ebay from a number of different sellers. All depends on what colors you are looking for. Is it just hair from wigs or is it sold as tying material anywhere? Thanks. It is just from wigs. Although I havent seen too many people with fire tiger colored hair recently so I dont know what they are actually using it for. In any case, if you get it from Ebay or Amazon you will most likely get it cheaper. A local shop I sell flies at sells it but it costs a little more for their small profit.

BassMouth shoot SteelDrifter a PM about the thread. That old stuff can be hard to come by and he may have some interest in it! Looks like a cool haul! If you are crafty or wanna spend the money Id get those muddlers put in a shadow box type frame as is. Great for over the bench.

A couple I tied up yesterday out in the sun! The red fly is a 8/0 gamakatsu hook and the deer hair fly is a 9/0 gama.

Thanks! Its actually some stuff called kanekalon. Its synthetic hair. SUPER cheap and comes in enormous hanks.

The green/yellow one is a big fly. Probably around 12". I believe they sell flies like these specifically for Mako's called Trimble Shark flies. The yellow/gray on is smaller, around 8" or so.

Mike.. Crackaig and Piker are correct. You can only see the "hard tube" in most pictures. The silicone tube is in there to hold the hook eye.

I originally booked a bay trip with SO Cal Fly Fishing.. Then I did some reading and decided I dont want to catch small fish. Even if they are "different" species then what I normally catch its just not my favorite thing to do. So through my research all I kept seeing was Mako shark this Mako Shark that. So I decided to bite the bullet and spend the extra money to try and catch a shark on the fly rod. Currently Im supposed to still be going through SO CAL shop.. I called and booked a day with someone at the shop and he indicated the guide would call me this week. If he doesn't I'll be calling Bowmans guide service.

So I decided to abort my "bay" trip and spend the extra money to flyfish for Mako Sharks. Waiting for the guide to call me for confirmation but thats the plan so far. Anyone have a shark fly they want to share??
