  1. Just like it has been for years, my goal it is to catch a tarpon. To be fair, I have not been trying too hard...
  2. I fish pretty shallow, so I just count how many boils and that is my answer šŸ˜‰
  3. Another day without feathers in the mailbox. I am patient, but I wonder if I should call Collins just to see if they even received the order yet. UPDATE: Did call. They received the order and it is on its way.
  4. Thank God there are lots of weirdos like us... šŸ˜Š
  5. No Collins package in the mailbox today either...
  6. Poopdeck, sounds like you should have sent them to Florida... šŸ˜ Seriously, though, I would normally expect to get the package any day now. Even with Collinsā€™ mail-in only ordering and the holidays in between, I do not think it was two weeks last time. Vee vill zee..
  7. This is the last iteration. Half the tall boy to the left is for storage of materials, but I had to corner the desk to make room for it. Still dreaming up the perfect portable desk to take downstairs or outside.
  8. From comments in another thread... What is a reasonable expectation for regular USPS mailings these days? I will admit that I have lost track of it in the age of Amazon prime and UPS. But I ordered stuff from Collins before Christmas and I wonder if I need to make a phone call to check that they even received the order and possibly get some tracking info. I did not worry about it when I ordered from Collins or anyone else in the past, but I gather the mail is not what it used to be.
  9. I bleed just by looking at the Trokkar hook points in catalogs. They look mean.
  10. Grout compound? Any general contractors out there? Joking, but you got me thinking...
  11. I commend you just for trying. What does one use for glue on this one?
  12. I think adding foam backgrounds and a driftwood prop has made my pictures much better. It does not improve the flies themselves, though...
  13. I struggle to get good pics of tiny flies. And when I get an ok one, then I see every imperfection that I could not see with the naked eye. Just canā€™t win...
  14. Accidents do happen, but I would not switch to UV resins for that reason alone. As for the kitchen table, do figure a way to keep the finish intact. Thatā€™s just good marriage survival skills.
  15. What is the reason to substitute head cement with UV? Thin UV will work in big flies, but I use Superglue for most flies. I do not even bother with superglue in small ones.
  16. I tie on an older Regal. It does everything I need. If I ever had the itch for a rotary, the Peak is hard to beat for the price. Buy tying materials with the extra $100.
  17. I am partial to the Regal Medallion with traditional jaws, which will set you back $175 online. I like a C-clamp because I can really crank down if I am doing deer hair. Lots of good choices, though. You need to pin down what features are most important to you in terms of pedestal, jaws, rotary, etc... For me, but not for many others, the Regal is the best compromise.
  18. Landon, next thing yo know, you will be printing fly parts...
  19. Someoneā€™s gotta do R&D... šŸ˜Š
