  1. Thanks for the heads up and quick answer.
  2. I am trying to get started tying some flies that will require some zonker strips. When I go looking for material I see cross cut listed. What are they used for and what is normally used?
  3. Mine arrived yesterday, another great swap.
  4. I was fishing the delayed harvest section, where they stock the fish from the hatchery with a helicopter. I don't know if they raise lake trout up there or not. I am sending a picture to the hachery to see if we can get some kind of explaination of what it is or what causes it. When I hear back from them I will update with the results. Redietz, it's definately not the way the light was hitting the fish. It's hard to tell but the back half of the fish looked like a normal rainbow but it almost white. You could faintly see the markings and coloration. It was an awesome fish either way. Can't wait to get back in there again.
  5. I really like the wasp/yellow jacket looking one, though the others are great too!
  6. I went out yesterday and put a little time in on SC's delayed harvest section of the Chauga River on a rather cool day, 25 degrees when I left the truck. Pretty chilli for SC standards. I caught this fish that had a funny looking color to it. Sort of... I let you make up your mind! I'll throw in a couple of other pictures of some nice trout. The other side of the fish was normal rainbow colored. [url=http://smg.photobucket.com/user/centerfire_223/media/SAM_0404_zpsc3fba4b9.jpg.html]

  8. I don't actually know where they swim at in the water column but that sure is a good looking fly. What did you use for the nose?
  9. I'm with the crowd keep the extra, Merry Christmas.
  10. Boy those are pretty or as we say down here in the south...purdy!!
  11. I try to tie 6 at a time, but I don't always make it to the end. But that is my goal.
  12. Some great ideas there. I've only been tying for a short period of time and I am a little lost on what dubbing is used for what. I don't have a whole lot of different kinds of dubbing. I have box of squirrel that I bought somewhere. This has about 10 or 12 different colors in it and I also have a box of UV2 synthetic dubbing I use for dry flies. So far it has sufficed but not necessarily what a pattern calls for. I have been wondering about making my own. Say for instance getting a roadkill rabbit or squirrel and taking the clippers to it like a barber. Give it a hair cut so to say. Then trying to mix up some different kinds. Any thoughts on this process? I am certainly open to suggestions. Thanks for all of the videos you put out, you do a great job on them.
  13. Pardon my ignorance but what is a fly like that used to catch? Very pretty and well tied fly.
  14. Mine are on their way as of yesterday. Been sitting on my desk for weeks.
  15. Steve just to let you know the rod arrived yesterday but I haven't opened yet and probably won't till Christmas. Since it is a present from my wife. Though I want to peek sooooooo bad.

I was at the fly shop today watching a guy tying some of these. He put a brass bead on them and he told me you want them to just float in the current.
  22. Must have been in the moon. I fished almost all day yesterday with only 3 fish to show for it. Though I did catch an awesome 12" native rainbow, prettiest fish I have ever caught!! Got to get me a camera to keep with me.
