  1. Ok, Guys, this swap is now officially closed with 10 swappers. That means that each of you will submit 10 flies and you will get back 10, but not one of your own. The due date is a hard date of February 10. That means that you are expected to have them in my possession on or before February 10. Do NOT wait until February 10 to mail them. I would suggest that you all try VERY hard to have them in the mail by February 3. Round 2 will BEGIN on February 10. And if you want in, you need to be signed up by that date. I will post Round 2 in early February. BB
  2. Ok. Today is the LAST day to sign up for Round 1. If anyone else wants in, let me know ASAP, or else we will close the swap at 9 swappers. This is the last call. BB
  3. Got you, r2732 & jburge. First post has been updated. Pick6ofem, check your PM. Still 3 slots open. If anyone wants to invite someone, please do. And if someone out there is watching and sitting on the fence, don’t wait too long. BB
  4. Jburge and Woodenlegs, you are both in and it will be great to be swapping with you again. Thanks for joining. Only 3 spots left now. BB
  5. Fishingbobnelson, r2732, dflanagan, and pickin6ofem; you are all in and welcome. Thanks for joining us. OK, everyone else, there are only 5 slots left and going fast. You’d better grab 1 fast while you can. BB
  6. We will certainly keep that in mind, Johnw.
  7. THIS SWAP IS CLOSED! Hey Guys. Long time, no see and thats my fault. Since I retired and moved to our retirement home, an acquaintance here has developed into friendship. My new friend likes to Crappie fish and has a boat. Crappie fishing here is anywhere from 10 to 30 feet deep and spinning gear is in order. But there are also some trout fishing in the Northern end of our County and Ive been thinking about giving that a try. And Im thinking about putting together a basic but well-stocked flybox, and you can help. Those of you who have tied with me before know that I like to do fly swaps in a series, and thats what Im proposing here. We can go as many rounds as you guys want to do, but Im thinking about beginning with 4 rounds. The 1st will be nymphs, 2nd will be emergers, 3rd will be Classic Dries, and 4th will be parachutes. If there is enough interest, we could go on to soft hackles, Classic Wets, Terrestrials, or whatever else you guys want to do. Here are the rules. Today is Sunday, January 5th. We will close this swap on Friday, January 10th with as many as sign up, up to an absolute cap of 12, plus the Swapmeister. If we only have 8 sign up by Friday, for instance, we will close at 8. Or whatever we have. The due day will be 1 month later on February 10th. Your flies will be EXPECTED to be here on or before February 10th. If your flies are in the mail and you have a good enough excuse for why they are late, we will wait for them, but the next round will begin on February 10th. You may participate in as many rounds as you like, but if you sign up, you are only obligated to that Round. Everyone is welcome to come or go as you see fit. Each swapper will tie as many flies as members in that round. If we have 12 swappers, plus the Swapmeister, you will tie 12 flies and not get back one of your own. If we only have 8 to sign up, then you only tie 8, to use the above example. Anyone interested is welcome to sign up. Beginners are welcome. I will open the next round on February 5th and close it on February 10th. As long as your flies for the previous round are in my possession, you are welcome to sign up for Round 2. If not, then you have to wait until I receive your flies from the previous round. Thats to remind you that Im serious about the due dates. If you didnt participate in the previous round, you are welcome to sign up as soon as the round opens. If you have questions, I will be happy to try to answer them. Again, the first round is nymphs. Who wants in? BB Mr Rapidan Bead Head Nymph Swapmeister 1 Samsonboi 2 Vicrider - Received 3 Johnw1986 4 r2732 - Copper Bug Version 2 Received 5 Fishingbobnelson - Casual Dress 6 dflanagan - Received 7 pickin6ofem - #18 bead head Hares Ear -Received 8 jburge - Prince Nymph 9 Woodenlegs - Received 10 Stabgnid THIS SWAP IS CLOSED!
  8. I finally was able to log in. Mine are in the mail. Should be there on Nov 21. BB
  9. Woodenlegs, if you find a solution please let me know. I tried everything, asked Administrators, etc, made a nuisance of myself, probably came close to getting banned from the sight, and never did find an answer. I am convinced there is a glitch in the system and once you stop receiving notices, that’s it. I think the Forum is on an old platform. One thing you might try is creating a new identity, new Username, etc. That might work but I was unwilling to try it BB
  10. Can anyone PM me Fishingbobnelson's mailing address? Thanks BB
  11. Ive got a set of flies ready to go in the mail and I will do my best to get them in the mail tomorrow. The problem is that is a pattern I learned from watching a YouTube video and now I cant find the video. I did a search for something like Fly Patterns Using India Hen and this video popped up. But it doesnt pop up now. It is an old pattern and it was something like Great Northern Wet Fly. It had something to do with North??? Does that ring a bell for anyone? It used some Golden Olive yarn instead of thread. You tie in the India Hen Hackle first, then wax the yarn and use that the make the yarn tacky so the dubbing sticks to it. Spinning the bobbing spins the yarn on the yarn makes a really neat dubbed body. Anyway, whatever it is, I learned some new techniques and I really hope the fly will fish. Ok. Im editing this post to say that I did find it. It is a North Country Wet Fly, or at least my version of it. I hope it works for you BB
  12. Hey Guys, I have started a Clear Water Jig Swap over on the Crappie.com board. These are 1/16 or 1/32 oz jigs so a bit heavier than most of the flies we tie here. But if any of you are members there, I wanted to give you a heads up. A couple of you have already joined, but if anyone else would like to join, I would love to have you join us there. Take care GF
  13. Ok guys, the good news is that the Ultralight Jigs hit the mail today. You should begin to receive them soon. Several guys sent in more than 1 set, and so you should be well pleased when you open your envelope. I would have liked to have sent them out yesterday, but my Grandson played two games yesterday and his team finished tied for 2nd place in the Dixie Youth State Championship Tournament. They had been playing all week, and the tournament came down to 3 teams with a 1 loss each. It was double elimination. And our team was chosen by coin toss to be 1 of the teams in the first game, so whoever won that one had to play 2 games. My Grandson pitched 3 scoreless innings (games are 6 innings long in Dixie Youth) in the last game, got on base several times and scored a run. My son is the team manager (head coach) so I was at the ball field all day yesterday. But I knew you would understand. Hope you enjoy the jigs and thanks for participating. BB
  14. Vic, I hope you will be up and out again very soon. Please take care of yourself. You don’t need any more setbacks. Also, I’m not a political speaker, thank he Good Lord, nor am I the inventor of byte coins, so I’m not going to ever be anywhere near sniffing distance of “Rich.” I get by, but that’s about it. BB
  15. Well guys, I’ve got good news and bad news about the swap. The good news is that ALL the jigs are here. The bad news is that I’m suddenly covered up with work. I tell my wife that I’m thinking about coming out of retirement and looking for a full time job because I’ve got to have some time off. I am speaking twice tomorrow and I have about 6 hours on the road, tomorrow, to get that done. One speaking engagement with about an hour’s worth of driving, I’ve known about for some time and I’m prepared for. The other, with five hours of driving, I found out about yesterday, and I’m totally unprepared for that one. So you know what I will be doing today and tomorrow. It looks like my first chance to get the jigs divided and into the mail will be Thursday, Friday at the latest. Sorry. But I will also say that you are going to be very pleased when you see them. They are a really nice set. I will let you know when I get them to the Post Office. Take care BB
  16. As of today, we have received all the sets but 1 and it is in the mail. I should have them by the first of the week and will get them turned around ASAP. The most recents sets were all excellent ties and your really going to enjoy admiring this whole set. Great work everyone. The original post in this thread is up to date. BB
  17. We have received another set of jigs from Vicrider. In fact, everyone gets 2! Yaaah! These are some really nice flies. This is going to be a great set of Panfish jigs. And I’m getting some ideas for the Crappie that reside in the large hydro-electric reservoir that is across the road from our house. Thanks to all. BB
  18. We have received 3 more sets of jigs that I need to acknowledge. They are from C Hubert, DarrellP and Richmc. All great sets. Thanks to all 3 of you for participating and for submitting excellent jigs. Let me also say, at this point, that I have received extras from several tyers and those extras are greatly appreciated. Take care BB
  19. Agn54, your jigs are fine. Very well tied. And they are not too large. I am expecting some that are larger, so don’t worry about that. And don’t try to read anything into anything I might have said. After a while, I try to change things up so I don’t say the same thing all the time. And in a rush, I may not say as much about 1 set as I do about another. I want you to know that I deeply appreciate your participation in this swap. And your jigs are a valuable contribution. Rest easy, my friend, you did great. BB
  20. Agn54's jigs have arrived and they are a very fine set of jigs. These are going to fish, for sure. BB
  21. I participated today in the funeral of the man who made the picture of me that I’m using as my avatar. John was a good guy. He served at least 2 (maybe 3) tours of duty in Vietnam. Machine gunner. Exposed often to Agent Orange. Died from Parkinson’s. Connection between Agent Orange and Parkinson’s??? He was a good friend. Vale, John.
  22. Vicente, just send in what you have. If you have several sizes available, lean to the smaller sizes. BB
  23. JohnW1986, no yours look like 1/64 to me. I need to make some 1/32 for my personal use, but it’s been a while, and I couldn’t remember what size hooks to use for 1/32. I have a mold that makes, I think, 5 or 6 sizes, so I have Jig hooks in several sizes. BB
