  1. I've been having fun! Graham
  2. Nice work Jay, very creative and very cool looking. I'm guessing that you put the spin on the peacock in Photoshop?
  3. Lately I've done well fishing Barr's Booface streamers
  4. Hi Ray, I know the pics are in the green covered book, but I have been told the pics are in both volumes. I plan on ordering a copy or two for myself, would be a good conversation piece while tying at local shows. Amazon sells them. I looked at a lot of pages in the books, and the only one I could find that gets a full two page spead is my spider...lol.. That red spider sure has been seen by a lot of people. I did a presentation locally on Saturday and it was wierd looking into the small crowd while I was speaking and seeing Timothy Dalton (James Bond) listening. I'm having a lot of fun with my tying lately, have been staying busy full time tying bugs for movie studios, and this week I have a meeting with some silicon valley investors interested in buying my solar business. This could be a life changing year, at least I hope so. Graham
  5. Hi Ulf, I think your bees look fantastic, and 100% realistic. You sure create amazing looking flies. Graham
  6. In the past I've used an inkjet to print transparencies for presentations using an overhead projector. (non fly tying or fishing stuff). I just noticed that my Epson R1800 inkjet printer options does not have the capability to print on transparencies, at least not that I'm aware of. I wish it did because the print quality is better than my Minolta 2350 color laser. I often print wings onto plain white paper and place the clear material over the top and trace the lines with a short sharp bodkin.
  7. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: WOW Bruce, that is one of the nicest and coolest flies I've ever seen, WOW. You might find this surprising, but my favorite view was admiring the underside on the fly, the shaping and taper is fantastic, and very realistic. Some serious creativity and tying skills on display in that video, WOW... :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: Graham
  8. Hey Garren, You need to change your printer setting from plain paper to transparency. Are you using a color laser? Graham
  9. Hey Henrik, I've attached a sheet of Hex mayfly wings as a PDF file, but I'm not sure how much the image quality degraded changing a 50MB TIFF file into a 155k PDF. Hex_wing_sheet.pdf Graham
  10. Awesome tutorial Ulf, and an awesome fly! Thank you for sharing! Graham
  11. Nice work FlyTyingPhotographer, very nice. I shoot fireworks the same way you do, f11, bulb, and try to get a timing cadence going with the show to capture the launch, explosion and pattern drift. Graham
  12. Wow, I really love your ice abstract images Peter. If I didn't know they were ice I would struggle trying to figure out how you made these images. Very cool. Graham
  13. Very nice series, a beautiful river, gorgeous fish, and friends, what a perfect combination. Graham
  14. Hey Andrew, I occasionally use beveled frames, and think they look best with landscape images. I think I find your frames a bit distracting only because the image floats above the beveled frame with a drop shadow. I think it may perhaps look better if the image appears to be inside the frame instead of floating over it. Looks like you're having fun playing with Photoshop, which I enjoy doing as well. Graham

    Hmmm...

Mark, Your presentaion sounds interesting indeed. I really can't say that this has been a bad experience, in fact I've been surprised by the number of people requesting framed realistic insects in the past week, mostly scientists. I noticed that you are in Lousiana, and yesterday I recieved an order from a movie studio for 16 realistic flies which will make there way to Louisina in three weeks, for filming. Seems like a lot of filming is being done in your area these days. I know the studio order is not related to PR from image theft, but it allowed me to raise my prices without losing sales. Graham
  16. Wow Johan, your stoneflies look gorgeous, with and without leg gills. I've noticed from collecting stoneflies that in some rivers the bugs seem have gills all over the underside, and thick on the legs as well. But other rivers, which are much more oxygenated, have stoneflies with much less gilling, and very few gills, if any, on the legs. For example, in the Sierra, stoneflies in the E. Walker river have so many gills they almost look like they are covered with fungus or something, while the stoneflies in the Kern River, which has lots of white water, look much more elegant with much less gilling. Ulf, great tying! Graham
  17. Looks like you had some gorgeous weather and took full advantage of it, and it paid off big time, what a Beautiful capture.
  18. Hey, I see some familar faces, and sure wish I had been there. Just looking at the GFP photos brings back some great memories. I'll be there next fall, and there won't be any pizza and wings left over... I really had a lot of fun with you guys last fall, truly a great group of dedicated tyers. See ya next year Aktao. Graham
  19. Thank you Jeanne, your comments make me feel very proud!!! And I'm really looking forward to admiring your stonefly. Cheers, Graham

    Hmmm...

You're right Peter, these are the modern day, Muslim fishing lures... http://shirhashirim.wordpress.com/2008/01/...m-fishing-lure/
  21. Hi Henrik, I seem to have a number of photographers, and scientists, insiting that I have to sue the author. But going after the head of an Islamic extemist group, based in Turkey, likely funded with Saudi money sounds complicated to me. I have spoken to a few trial attorneys and I sent an e-mail this morning to the author. Graham
  22. I stayed up for hours last night practicing some of the cool Photoshop tutorials on the site linked to below. I have a Wacom tablet and pens, but you don't need these to do the tutorials, you can use a mouse instead. http://www.wacom.com/tips/photoshop.cfm I so rarely use my tablet, but that is about to change, now that I've finally found some good info on how to use it. Graham
  23. Hey Mokai, I really love your beautiful photography! And your passion to be out making images! GREAT stuff!!!!!!!!!! Graham
  24. I love it, the fly, and your creative reflective photography, WOW, what a top notch combination. Graham
  25. Wow, looks like a fantastic trip, and you sure put together a great series of photographs. They look so creative and fascinating. I have a feeling you had almost as much fun at your computer as you did behind the lens. Very, very nice!!! I like them all but number 5 is my favorite. Graham
