Guest Report post Posted January 28, 2004 I would again like to thank everyone who took the time to submit a fly to this contest and I was truly amazed with the quality of these flies. This will be a yearly event so be thinking about your flies for the 2004 contest Members have voted for the past week for their favorite flies in 5 species categories and also for the "best fly" which every fly participated in. In total 67 members voted for a total of 380 votes. The way I calculated the "Fly Tyer Of The Year" was I took all of the species winners and counted how many votes that fly received for "best fly". Now comes time for the winners. *Special Note: The moderators and I have decided to award a special prize for the "rookie of the year" and we have awarded that honor to redneckfisherman, congrats bud! Bass With a total of 20 votes Irish was the winner of the Bass Category The Fly: http://www.flytyingforum.com/uploads/conte...0a1b88975f5.jpg Panfish With a total of 24 votes strap11 was the winner of the Panfish Category The Fly: http://www.flytyingforum.com/uploads/conte...075de67c84a.jpg Saltwater With 44 votes bassturd was the winner of the Saltwater Category The Fly: http://www.flytyingforum.com/uploads/conte...09f0367a135.jpg Steelhead and Salmon This was the most exciting category to watch because there was a fierce battle between two flies with several lead changes and one vote in the closing hour resulted in a tie. I already had a plan if a tie would happen. I counted the amount of votes for each fly in the "best fly" category and it was still very close, but we have a winner. With a total of 23 votes and 3 votes for "best fly" TroutBum was the winner of the Steelhead and Salmon Category The Fly: http://www.flytyingforum.com/uploads/conte...0a0f65cd157.jpg I must mention with 23 votes and 2 votes for "best fly" was RoyChristie The Fly: http://www.flytyingforum.com/uploads/conte...0a214e72bff.jpg Trout With 19 votes luvinbluegills was the winner of the Trout Category The Fly: http://www.flytyingforum.com/uploads/conte...0a130d138d7.jpg drumroll please.............................................. With 15 votes for "Best Overall Fly" the winner of the 2003 FlyTyingForum.com Fly Tyer Of The Year Award Is Bassturd Congrats to Bassturd and all of the category winners you guys did a tremendous job and you have really shown the amazing tying skills of our members. Guest Report post Posted January 28, 2004 I can honestly say I didn't consider this work because I had a blast being a part of it(especially tormenting everyone asking me for results ) I did not publish the amount of votes for everyone else out of respect for everyone and didn't want to embarass anyone by letting the world know they didn't get any votes. If anyone is interested in knowing how many votes they received PM me and I will let you know. I will be sorting all of the flies and will be contacted the winners for shipping details in the next few days. Thanks again to everyone P.S. Redneckfisherman, How does it feel to be the "2003 Rookie Of The Year"?

Lance Kekel 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2004 For anyone who PM's Will on this one. Considering the level of competition I don't think anyone should feel bad about not getting any votes. These were some extremely well tied flies! Will, I'll be sending the pattern for my fly shortly so it can go in the library. I just can't remember exactly what I called it! memories slipping!!!
