Graham 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 I'm trying to find out what kind of duck the ones below are? I kind of like this mallard shot.
verminous_titan 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Superb Images, I dont think I have ever seen a brilliant White Herron.
Graham 0 Report post Posted October 10, 2006 Thanks verminous_titan, thanks a lot! I really can't decide if I like the photo below or not, a heron up in a tree. I like the colors but the branches are distracting, but there's something about it I kind of like, even though most of the bird is not visible.
Peterjay 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 I think the branches add a touch of mystery and give the shot perspective. Sometimes less is more.
Peterjay 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Graham, I have to admit defeat on your duck question - checked my field guides and did some searches and found nothing that resembles your quackers. Some kind of escaped domestic strain maybe? An Asian visitor? One of Graham's Photoshop-aided pranks? (the memory of The Great Owl Caper is still fresh LOL)
Graham 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Thanks Peterjay, I've been looking as well, still nothing on those ducks. I was just looking at some of the shots from last week and like the cormorant shot below. I am so happy with my camera, and I'm enjoying zooming in on the pics in Photoshop and looking at the details...

stony 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2006 Sorry for the hijack. I was skimming through the unread posts, and I saw this thread entitled Bird Pornography. Not sure why, but my curiousity got the better of me. I guess I read it completely wrong. Ok, back to our regularly scheduled programming. Great pics guys. Nice birds. Graham 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 Few More....
Graham 0 Report post Posted October 14, 2006 I was out picking weeds in the backyard thise morning, and a hummingbird kept showing up, so, I ran inside and grabbed my camera. The humming bird seems to only show up when I don't have the camera. But, a pair of hawks circled around and around over my backyard, and I got a few pics. I know the larger one is a Red Tailed hawk, but the smaller one that was pestering the big one, I'm not sure what that is? Getting a shot of a mid air collision was cool. Too bad they were under a cloud when that occured. The crash didn't seem to botther the big bird much, he just soard higher and higher, without flapping its wings, and the little one did a lot of flapping trying to keep up.
