Bugsy 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 Stunning tie! Perhaps flawless!! I've enjoyed tying a few of these, too, but have never felt the urge to fish one. By the cheers for this pattern, I'm thinking I've been foolish. :wallbash: If anyone else has any praise for this pattern for fishing, I'd like to hear (waters, sizes, blah blah). Just might send me to the vise for a session.
flyDology 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2007 I cut my fly fishing teeth on Colorado freestone mountain trout streams and this was a staple in my box. Its an old pattern that Roosevelt was fond of if I recall my history lessons. Its worth a try and I'll be using it this summer on Oregon's Deschutes River for a change of pace. siestafred 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 floydiology.....that herl looks kind of shiny. Did you coat it with anything? Fred
flyDology 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 Fred, No, its just a single strand of plain old everyday herl tied with the bias towards the rear. I just used an eraser to strip the rear section of the body. The sheen must be from my lighting and reflectors in the photo booth. No artificial flavors or preservatives.
