stony 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Not sure how many of you have seen the 720 vise but man, this thing is awesome. Saw it yesterday at our expo and this thing does it all. Absolutely amazing piece of machinery. http://fly-wheel.net/index.html
Guest Report post Posted March 30, 2008 Because $270 is so much better than buying a 10 dollar pair of hackle pliers. What a waste of money
carlp5351 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2008 I watched it in use, what a waste of time. to many moving parts. carlp5351
madkasel 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 It looks pretty cool, but I'll be stunned if it catches on big. A certain group of people and tiers will no doubt gravitate to it. I tie parachute flies all the time and this looks about 10 times more complicated. Peope no doubt laughed at the first rotary vice and called it a waste of money, too. This might not be the machine that revolutionizes fly tying, but maybe it's a step toward something else.

purolohi kalastaja 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Because $270 is so much better than buying a 10 dollar pair of hackle pliers. What a waste of money Dick Harry If it works better than my $10 hackle pliers that won't grip the hackle and let it slip every time I get to the end, it might be worth $270. Also, having a southpaw in the house, I like the idea of easy lefty/righty switch for teaching purposes....

flytyingscotsman 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2008 Does the phone always ring when you're in the middle of tying that parachute fly ? Then the 720 vise system is for YOU ! Just grab that hackle with the gallows/plier attachment and answer that call ! (Insert catchy Ron Popeil 'Set It and Forget It' type phrase here)

Guest Report post Posted April 1, 2008 I just dont see the point. PK buy a new set of hackle pliers, something you are comfortable with, or adjust the ones you currently own. Save yourself 260 bucks. john

Guest Report post Posted April 1, 2008 FlyingScotsman, As I verily type I am constructing said fly and talking on the telephone, twenty three... March, really... Yes dear.. back to typing, where'd that loop go... You may happily, if not safely answer the phone - mind, it's easier to answer the phone if you tie without a vise Caddis16, Doubling your Scotch intake just makes the flies a bit more scruffy & fishcatching.. and gives you a hangover of course seriously, this fly might double your catch rate... try it. Happy tying and have a fun season, Roy
