Out West Flies

Recommended Posts

Lets have a swap for those of us that may make it out west this summer.

Hoppers

Scuds

Stimi's

PMD's

ants

streamers

I would host but I cannot, I don't have enough swaps under my belt.

I think this would be a cool one.

Corey

How are you defining "west". I live on the pacific coast, so for me west is Japan. West of the Rockies? Montana, Idaho, Alberta?

If you guys think we could get up enough interest, I'll be happy to run point on this swap. I like the idea of all of those popular patterns and I think it's a swap where beginners and veterns could contribute! :headbang:

That said, you've got yourselves a swapmeister, so let's see what we get for a response.

Hook sizes 12 or smaller (unless you're tying a streamer.)

DUE DATE - JUNE 15

Limited to 12 tyers. Tie a bakers dozen (that's 13 flies for the uninformed) flies of any one of the above patterns and other than streamers, let's keep the hook sizes 12, or smaller sized hooks ( as in 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, etc.)

Are you saying the hook size is 12 or larger, if so, I would be interesred? Is southern Calif, far enough west?

I am also in Colorado and would like in on this. But i would like a better definition of size and style you are interested in. It started with ants (usually size 18-24 around here) and hoppers (usually 10-14 locally)??? what do you really want? I think that a version of the renegade that i have heard called a dead chicken is the one truly universal Colorado trout fly, i use 12-16 for larger rivers and 16-20 for streams and lakes/ponds. The other great fly for small waters here is a midge or misquito around 18-24??? So PLEASE define what you are looking for in this swap. Thanks.

Actually these are both so simple and basic i would probably do both as one fly for trade.

I'm in , if streamers or stimulators, hook sizes 6 or 8 are okay.

Yep, size 12 and under is fine. Just not over size 12. Let me know and I'll add you to the list!!

Mike,

Thanks for picking this swap up. If the due date is not too agressive I would like to be in with a size 12 orange stimultor or royal trude. How would sometime in the middle June be fo a due date?

JP

Shoot! I forgot to add a due date!! :wallbash:

DUE DATE ... June 15 should be enough time I think!

OK guys, we got this thing rolling!! :yahoo:

FIVE slots still open and it's not just limited to those guys FROM the West Coast, but anyone who want to tie a western style fly, size 12 and under. Western as in west of the Colorado Rockies! Tons of great patterns for trout and steel head out this way so feel free to jump in if you've got a notion to! :D
