I have never don it before Micke Sure ill cover youre back, if you diside to go thrue with it. Hm, i think first of all you need to have been in 3 swaps to host a swap, other than that, an ide could be to do the colours from a scandinavian country or flie patterns invented in one of ower countrys.... i realy havent thougt about it, but i am full of crazy ide's... what whas youre first thougt about it? normaly its good to go with the instingt and first thougt. A short answer to Post 29. i realy like youre Leadwing Coachman, it looks right all the way thrue. i tyed some nymphs this mornig and as i just came home i will now do some more of them I have no pattern for them but im trying to create a siluett from this picture of a Cloëon dipterum nymph. jacktjl 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2008 Claudia, Nice idea and I promise you a picture soon. I have an experiment for your amusement. We all would love if you do Thanks for responding to the tropic :yahoo: C I have been tying some Golden Matuka Stinger Streamers and the results were coming out nicely. Size 10 hook with a size 16 stinger. Golden floss body with a clear stretch cord overbody. Furnace wings and hackle. The pictures came out nice but the USB port on the camera no longer works. Darn! It may be a while before I can post pictures. In the mean time I can do some oohs and ahhs on the other postings.

jacktjl 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2008 Hi my name is Charlie I have been tying for only 2 years but I like to tie salmon and trout flies. As of late I have been tying para adams, comets and stuff like that. I still am not that accomplished and am looking to see if anyone has some new ideas and or helpful tips that I might be able to apply to my flies. I am open to all comments. Thanks Charlie By the way Awesome flies everyone. Charlie, Fly Anglers Online had some nicely documented instructions by Al Campbell. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/i...iate/part24.php Also I have been looking at videos on youtube. If you do a google search you can find a lot of videos. Although I started tying about 25 years ago I took 20 years off and started tying again about 2 years ago. I still find the library a good source of info and recently checked out a book by A. K Best called Production Fly Tying. Although I am not a commercial tyer and never will be there are some good tips in there from a master that I found useful. Hope this helps,

C It's probably best to try to be included in any swap first like you say before I test my self, but I like your ide. Perhaps a salmon fly with the colors of the flag in the wing and body, hair type wing or so, I tried  to make a bumblebee tonight, I'll try to shoot it tomorrow and see if I can upload the image in the thread, fine flies you have made Regards Micke

fly tryer 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2008 fly tryer how did you make your first pattern the encased caddis Fishboy S 10 curved nymph hook, wrap with 2 layers of lead tape, then cover the whole body area with unwaxed dental tape. cover with 5 min epoxy then drop into a container of model railway dirt/stone remove from this and allow to dry. When dry put a small tag of flouro green thread at the tail and whip finish, then dub a small thorax of hare's ear, build a small head and then whip finish. any questions pm or e-mail and I will try to help.
