Hook: Tiemco 102Y #11

Thread: Benecchi 12/0, grey

Hackle: Whiting Coq de Leon lower neck feather, mottled

Tail: Golden pheasant tipped, dyed hot orange

Body: Rabbit, dark grey, including guard hair

Underwing: Golden pheasant tipped, dyed hot orange

Wing: Muskrat, guard hair and a small amount of underfur

Bow Juan Wurm Variant

 

The pattern;

 

Hook =Size 8 Streamer Bent on the vise shaft

Thread= copper or orange about size 6

Body= vintage speaker copper wire from the 70's + a clear stretch cord overwrap (2009) from Michael's Craft Store.

Caterpillar fibers= Vintage Ostrich herl from the late 70s. (I hope it doesn't disintegrate when whet)

Head=Peacock Herl

Lacquer= Lots of it

I guess since you used all that material from the 70s, it should be a vintage fly. Nice, I think if you could find big enough ostirdge herl, one coud make these with new wire, and new herl.

Body hackle: Whiting Coq de Leon neck hackle, dark pardo

Rib: Copper wire, dark

Tail: Golden pheasant tippets, dyed hot orange

Abdomen: UV Ice Dub, ginger

Thorax: UV Ice Dub, tan

Wing: Magpie wing quill strip, doubled

 

Note: I noticed this magpie feather lying on the pavement, and it just called out to me to pick her up...
