just got a dry fly hackle cape, first one ive ever had and was wondering if anyone had any advice on tying dry flies. all tips or comments are greatly appreciated.

Good Day,

 

Where to start...

 

Keep it in a well sealed container with a moth ball or two.

 

Most of your "skinny" hackle will be in the center and the wider hackle off to the sides.

 

Try to keep it flat, not folded.

trim butt ends of hackle to 1/8 inch to prevent slippage.Hmm,tie the hackles in,butts facing toward the eye and shiny side facing you.Three turns in behind wing and two in front as a general rule.Read all you can about tying dry flies and the best possible thing would be to watch someone with experience tie some dries,if not waych videos on the web,google adams dry or dry fly tying videos.
