Cheap Eyes

Recommended Posts

Here's an idea that might work. This's the cheapest way I can think of to make eyes. Just take a drop of finger nail polish and place it on a piece of release paper. You know the paper that's on the back of stickers. The polish will self level and when it's dry place a smaller dot in the center. After it dries the eye will come off the release paper very easily. The ones here in the photo are pretty rough as I haven't got the hang of it quite yet.

I have been doing this for years to make eyes for lead jig heads that have the recessed spot for the eye.. You can make any color combos you want then glue them in place and clear coat over top to guarentee their permanent placement..

This is a great way to save money and make colorful eyes.

Cheers.

Chris

seems to me they should be made on the fly not on paper. double effort?

With these eyes they're already dry.. and you get to pick out and use those that are only the very best or have the pupils oriented correctly...

If you do this on a polyethelene cutting board or similar material you can epoxy coat them for a 3D look.

T-shirt paints work well also.
