Tenkara Swap (any style)

Recommended Posts

SWAP is FULL :D

Tenkara fishing is pretty simple and the flies aren't complex either, so how about a Tenkara swap? If you're not familiar with the flies, I have some links below. I did the majority of my fishing last year Tenkara style (haven't given up all Western style though) and have to say it was just downright fun.

Standard swap rules apply for the first twelve (well, including yours truly) to speak up:

- Self-addressed stamped envelope and toe tags on your flies to me

- Due date is March 11

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on progress. When you've completed your flies, PM me and I'll send you my mailing address.

Have fun and keep 'em simple. Any style of Tenkara goes.

John

OK, OK, I'll pick you :) You're in.

Most sizes are 14's and 12's. I'm finding I'm tying more 12's these days, so whatever you're comfortable with.

This is going to be a fun one. It'll be nice to get away from the standard trout line up. I've been wanting to try this style on a certain small brook trout stream. These flies should be sent back right around ice out. I'll be eagerly anticipating until then!

John...Something new to tie. Interesting style. I'll join in. "Ishigaki Fly" with black thread body will be my pattern.

These fies look like winners for Sierra Nevada streams!

Thanks for hosting.

FWIW, one of the first trips I did in the Sierras last year was to a new brookie spot and the Tenkara was perfect. You're really gonna be jones'n for the thaw

Funny this came up Ive been working on a plan to bring a rod back packing.

Flon, that's my primary mode all summer long. It was the backpacking that motivated me to investigate Tenkara. Glad you're in.
