Pebble cased caddis

Recommended Posts

I finally was able to get my camera working again. Have any of you had success with a pebble cased caddis or something close. Let me know what you think?

Any suggestions to make it better? All I had was this thinner sand but I think it turned out good

Then from there it is just super glue and rolling it in sand.

The only thing I can think of would be to go to a local stream and get a bucket of fine sand/gravel from the stream and then let it dry out. Or get some varying colors of sand from lighter to darker colors to match whatever is in the stream you are fishing. But I think it looks great. I had been thinking about doing something similar for a long time.

what I was thinking was going to a hobby store and get sand for train setups. I am sure they got several colors just have not had time to do it yet

They call the model railroad stuff "ballast". Here in one tied with it. The color of the ballast is really washed out in the photo. CasedCaddis.jpg

that looks really good! My sand I had was really fine. It was sand I am using to finish bricking my back patio. Guess I have to run to the hobby store

Back in the days when I used to kill the occasional trout, I caught a 19-inch rainbow on a gold-ribbed hare's ear, and the fish was absolutely stuffed with cased caddis, rocks and all. So I have no doubt these patterns would catch fish. Nice job!
