siestafred 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2004 Ok, here's a pic of my #12 Red Fox Squirrel Soft Hackle Emerger. I'm always willing to learn, so any comments are appreciated for sure. As I said above, this is a searching pattern I like because it's quite 'buggy' and can suggest alot of different mayfly or caddis life-forms to trout. It's based on the Dave Whitlock pattern, but modified a bit. I've had alot of success using "old school" soft hackle wets this year. At the least, they allow one to fish some water that might not otherwise be receptive to a nymph or a dry. I fish it just under the surface, and it usually gets the most action just at the end of the drift as the line tightens and the fly begins to lswing or rise. siestafred 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2004 This is just a suggestion, but how about we all post our 'emerger' recipes. I know it would help me learn and understand how these patterns were constructed.

cornmuse 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2004 I've finished my set of flies. I tied a very effective "guide fly" - the cdc and shoeshow hare emerger. All packed up and ready to go. I'll hit the post office this afternoon. I'll try to photograph and post the pattern to the database later this week. Joe C.
Shmang 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2004 Mine are ready to be mailed. I went TINY and made up a Peacock and Pheasant Emerger on a size 22 hook. It will serve as a great baetis emerger but also double as a very passable midge pattern too.
