Stippled Popper 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Size 8 body and hook that came with them, it seems to be short though. The Wapsi #8 hard foam cupped bodies I've seen usually ship with a #8 Mustad CK52S Hook. However, I have had some #6 hooks in packs with the #8 bodies. The #8 CK52S generally sits in the #8 body with the tip of the hook point just short of the very rear of the body with the hook eye fully out of front of the cup. The eye of the hook in your image is barely out of the body and, though it it is hard to be certain, the point of the hook appears to be at or a tiny bit under the body. So yes. The hook may be a #10.

Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Great looking little bugs! I really like the compact tie, the short tail ought to amount ot a lot of hook ups. Kirk

idcraft 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 Thanks everyone. I have ordered some more bodies and hooks so hopefully they will arrive to give me something to work on since it looks like bad weather is finally heading my way!
idcraft 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 What is a good material to fill in the gap after hook glued in. I am using more gel super glue now but it doesn't seem to fill very well, takes several applications
Kirk Dietrich 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 I use Elmer's wood filler. It is an indoor/outdoor water based woodfiller, excellent product. It adheres well to the hard foam and sands very easily when dry. Kirk
TheCream 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2012 I have used wood filler, and on smaller poppers I have used Loon UV Knot Sense. I can fill the gap, level it off, hit it with a UV light, and paint it. No waiting. On a side not, my New Year's Resolution was "be an inspiration to someone." Now that I have done that, I can focus on fishing and fly tying til next December!
