Not very common emerger

materials:

Demmon BL D400 hook size #14

Body made of biot

Hackle made of guar hair fur from Hare

Wing: CDC in loop

It works on trout in slow and medium fast running rivers

Loop wings are one of my favorite styles, although I much prefer polypropylene yarn to CDC. While CDC is buggier looking, and might make a difference on technical waters, it is just too fragile and high maintenance for me.

I really do not find the CDC fragile. My dry flies are based on CDC, from size #10 down to #22, never had a problem :) why do you consider it fragile?

Lucian,

Every time you post pictures of your flies I am amazed at your talent. Makes me want to throw my vise in the scrap heap, but I will stumble on hoping to improve. Thanks for giving me a goal to strive for.

Cool looking biot body! What feather is that from? I use a lot of biot bodies, but I mostly use dyed feathers, that looks like a naturally colored biot.

Thanks for your kind words guys.

 

About biot, any kind of natural biot ( goose, turkey, peacock, even dove or eagle ) will look nice because will give you the grey/brown tint when you make the turns.
