  1. Long, long time ago we called KILLER BUG. I bought the fist publication of "Nymphs and the trout" -F. Sawyer, 1958-. in 1958 I have been fly-fishing for 70 years (and still fly-fishing) Could you please point out the difference between the two. I don't see any (of such an importance to change the name of the fly) Thank you very much!
  2. Some time ago, surfing the web, I found an interesting site "Le mosche dei Facocchi" about flies made on the loom. The technique is very similar to that of Terenzio but the instruction are much more clear!. I bought Terenzio's DVD........It is a mess (in Italian or in English) full of interruption of NO value what so ever,.......TERENZIO,........ IT IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Maxina (boiled) to 1x: 2x and 3x Stren Original; 4x to tip (6x, 7x,8x) Dai-Riki
  4. Lately there is been a revival of hard bodies flies (They are not a new idea! see "FLY-TYING by William B. Sturgis - 1940) using modern Materials. UV RESINS, easy to use but they (NONE OF THEM!) do not "stick" like epoxy. To coat Midges bodies try to use 2 or 3 coats of "Hard as nail" previously thinned with acetone or "Spar varnish-Polyurethane" for boats or outdoors EPOXY RESINS (2 parts) a pain to mix and to much fuss.... FLEX CEMENT, SOFTEX area little too toxic for me! Now,did you ever tried "Rust-Olium Appliance Epoxy" and (or) "Rust-olium Scratch and chip repair Markers"? (Color or clear)
  5. I use "UV BOAT REPAIR" by Loon outdoors. I think is the best for fly tying:it s soft and very easy to use. Remember this: UV does will not stick like epoxy. These are some flies I tye with UV.I call them "Fruits of the Loom"
  6. WAIT A MINUTE!.... I POSTED THIS TOPIC ON THE 3 OF DECEMBER WITH PICTURES AND EVERYTHINGS.......THIS "CRAZY" THINK IS NOT BY ME...I WILL CHECK WITH THE ADMINISTRATION
  7. It seems I messed up posting!!!!!!! I will try again!!!!
  8. I also tie flies professionally and I own a couple of Vises (I collect them) including the Master Vise and the Barracuda. To be able to use the master I add to alter the jaws with the help of a Dremel tool: Now I can tie XL flies (very seldom) and extra small #24 and upside down Both vises are too cumbersome for my character (particularly the Barracuda) Now I use a Lawrennce vise!
  9. I use "Loon" for boat or knots That is why I call then "Fruits of the Loon" Ciao!

  11. Hi Bruce, I think that everything is so ooooooooooooover priced that it make me sick to think that a vise (no name mentioned!) costs close to $ 1000.00. I have many friends in industry, here and in Europe (I come from Rimini - Italy) so sometime I get a break here and there. Most of the time I design my own accessories (I call them helping hands) that allow me to tie some of my patterns that without them it would be very hard (if not impossible). Personally (beside the Law) I am sold to the "720 vise": it is very affordable and it great to tie modern flies using the new-age hooks! cio4now and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!
  12. The base is for the "Belazia vise". ciao4now gino Thats what I thought. I had one. Why do you use that base instead of the one that came with the Master vise? When I buy a vise I buy with the C clamp then I buy a "base" at Cabela for about $20.00 c

  14. I tie #28 on my danvise with no problems and the biggest I tie is 4/0 but it still holds them well enough to tie some pretty cool deer hair bugs so guess I wouldn't need a master vise or the mill work As I pointed out that was a present:I did not want a Master vise because I have a little use of it.I have two vises that I use constantly: one is a "L. Waldron"and the other is "720 vise". I customize the jaws in a way that now I can really tie from the biggest to the smallest and .above all, I can tie with the hook up side down, I can tie using the new design hooks (True form, umbrella hooks) and also realistic fishing flies with no problem at all! These extra photos are to demonstrate that the jaws did not loose the "grip" on large hooks. Now,with this set of jaws I can really say with the Master vise you can tie flies from 10/0 to 28 and everything in between. 15. Some time ago I was given, for one of my birthdays a Renzetti Master Vise, and there and then I learned the difference between HOLDING and TYING! Sure.... the vise will hold a hook size 28 but you can not tie anything to it. When I tried to tie a fly size18, I had to barely pinch the hook in the Godzilla size jaws and 9 time out of 10 it shot clear across the room (size 28....my feet!!). So I bought another vise, and another vise, and another vise.......@#$#%&.....don't make me go there! A couple of days ago, my 9 year old grandson came to visit me and, as he usually does. he went straight to "leavethatmessaloneit'smycloset" (to him is just another Disneyland!). Well, to make a long story short, he found two things I totally forgot about: the Renzetti #@$%%$#@?Master vise and a Dremel, and this is what happened next: Size 28 indeed!!
