  1. Thom! Glad you're in buddy. And you're absolutely right. These guys are killer for "up the hill." John
  2. Flon, that's my primary mode all summer long. It was the backpacking that motivated me to investigate Tenkara. Glad you're in. John
  3. FWIW, one of the first trips I did in the Sierras last year was to a new brookie spot and the Tenkara was perfect. You're really gonna be jones'n for the thaw John
  4. Good choice Shad, one of my favorite styles. Thanks for joining. John

  6. OK, OK, I'll pick you You're in. Most sizes are 14's and 12's. I'm finding I'm tying more 12's these days, so whatever you're comfortable with. John
  7. SWAP is FULL Tenkara fishing is pretty simple and the flies aren't complex either, so how about a Tenkara swap? If you're not familiar with the flies, I have some links below. I did the majority of my fishing last year Tenkara style (haven't given up all Western style though) and have to say it was just downright fun. Standard swap rules apply for the first twelve (well, including yours truly) to speak up: - Self-addressed stamped envelope and toe tags on your flies to me - Due date is March 11 I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on progress. When you've completed your flies, PM me and I'll send you my mailing address. Have fun and keep 'em simple. Any style of Tenkara goes. 9. Cross Specials have left the building! Does anybody know if mail will be delivered on Monday, Jan 17? (Martin Luther King holiday) Gotta tell you guys I'm really looking forward to seeing these flies. Troutguy, great idea and really appreciate your hosting. John
  10. Mike, That is, without a doubt, one of the best materials lists I've ever seen. Kudos to you for taking the time to put it together. That was no quick reply answer. I hope others realize what a great resource this is! John

  14. Wow, boynabubble and fishingbob are already done. You guys are quick! I'm just now getting around to deciding (I think 'cause there are just so many good ones to choose from). I'm in with a Cross Special. This is already looking to be one fine set of flies from a fine group of tiers. John

  21. Rich, It's gonna be a #16 X-Caddis for me. OldHat turned me on to this fly earlier this year, and it's been a go-to all summer. Had a day of non-stop action on Saturday using just this one fly :-) John
  22. Just found out about this, so I'm in but I still gotta decide. It's a TBD for me. Thanks! John
