  1. Depends on if I get inspiration or not. Normally it is at least 7 or 8 flys a week when I am just tying for no reason, if I have a trip coming up and I need a specific fly for that trip it could be 3-4 dozen a day.

    ugh

QUOTE (Brewer @ Sep 6 2005, 03:48 PM) i went away to nova scotia for a ball tournament on the weekend, when i came home, my time out room had been "gulp"....CLEANED UP . this includes my tying bench, and pc bench.....i can find nothing, my empty beer case coffee tables are gone and everything......im gettin even for this , its time to rearrange the bathroom vanity !!! Oh I hate it when that happens. Then they say... "but I put the stuff in places where you could find it." Yeh if I could find it then I would not be annoyed.
  3. Dad got it. I think it has been a bigger help for him to learn then I have been... I don't know if that says that it is really good or if I am really bad at teaching.

    Gas Prices

$3.39 right by my appartment, but 5 miles up the road is $3.09. I think 5 miles is worth it... don't you?
  5. Well guys looks like I am going to have to drop out... I am really sorry especially since this is my first swap. It does not look like I will be able to send out the flys till thursday at the earliest, and you northern guys should get a chance to use everyone elses flys. Again I am really sorry about droping out but school is hecktic right now.
  6. My nonnamed killer crappie flys for the crappie swap since it looks like USPS lost my package
  7. OK I guess something must have gone wrong with sending if you have not gotten them yet( or they are sitting in the back of my roommates car ) I will tie them up again tonight and tomarrow and send them monday myself.
  8. LBG umm have you gotten my flys? I sent them out a while ago. If not I am going to tie up some new ones today and send them out.

    Help is comming

Dad called the local Red Cross and asked if they needed Lagistics(sp) help. He used to run Phillip Morris Richmonds trucking department and knows how to get food stuffs( cigarettes) into places that nothing can get to. They told him that they apperiate his attempt to help but they don't need it right now.
  10. Thats a small one. I have hooked into 50+lb ones before. They go where they want to go and unless you have enough rod to completely comtrol them, you are not going to win untill they get tired.
  11. Hounini surprisingly I would rather take my SOT out in cold weather before my SI. I kayak all throughout the year which includes when the airtemp and water temp are not much above 32*F. I have a wetsuit that keeps you warm but SI's have the problem that you are sitting right at or just below the waterline so the inside of the boat gets very cold, SOT you sit out in the open air and as long as you have the correct paddle stroke you will stay fairly dry. The only reason for the wetsuit is if I happen to take a dunk which I have never done except when I am in the surf at the beach. I wish I could find the pic of my first kayaking trip in my own boat, my girlfriend at the time and I took our new boats out on Feb 2 and we had to drive around the lake in order to find open water, we found a spot that was about 100ft by 200 ft and we went out. Dad came out and took the pic of the two of us playing around in water that was starting to refreeze and we had all around us 6 inches of ice.
  12. 1. There are times it is the best thing in the world, there are times I wish I was in a boat with a motor. I like it for sneeking around and getting close to spooky fish 2. ocean freshwater? or do you mean touring and whitewater? A whitewater boat is not what you want at all, they don't track strait and they are fairly likely to roll on you( at least in my expirence) both of my boats see both fresh and saltwater and don't show any signs of wear except what I dish out to them( running into rocks beaching on sand and there is that big scratch from where I dropped one off the car 3. I prefer sit-on-top because typically they are wider so they are more stable. But a good sleek sit-in-side is nice for long trips to your spot 4. Ummm I got to say neither my Wilderness systems Riot( sit-on-top) or my Prion calabria( 14ft sit-in-side) would be a good choice I think. Dad is 6ft3 and at one point was 250lbs and the Riot would sit very low in the water when he was in it, and he could not even fit into my Prion. I have to say go to a local Kayak shop if you have one and sit inside of a few find what you like and don't like and ask them a lot of questions.
  13. I made my own Stacker by using a Bic G2 pen( gel pen) and removing the pen part. I gave up on deer hair flys though because like SH said you would be amazed as to how much deer hair you can fit onto a hook.

$2.60 here in Richmond. On saturday I don't want to see how bad it will be along I-95 south
  15. I need to change my answer. I am now up to 4 boxes. Do they multiply or what?
  16. Mine should have gone out earlier this week. I asked my roommate to take them to the post office while he was going there and never did and I have not been home. Hopefully tomarrow or monday they can go out. Sorry about the messup.
  17. I just heard my Cousin is packing his bags to head on over there. He is New Jersey National Guard and we were hopeing that his time spent being an MP at one of the Airforce bases would be his only "action" guess not.
  18. I use the whip finishing tool. I never got the hang of any other technique. Right now I am using Rumpf flex cement, I am happy with it for now.
  19. I got my Renzetti Traveler on June 7th of this year and within 3 weeks I could not fathom using a non-rotary anymore. I am still getting used to having the bobbin rest though.

    FF in NYC

Yep I always heard that that area had good fishing when my parents grew up( Dad is from Pompton Plains NJ and Mom is from Clifton NJ) Dad talked about fishing Central Park one time and decided he did not like it because there were too many people nosing in on him while he was fishing.
  21. QUOTE (Joe Hard @ Aug 11 2005, 06:21 PM) I can see the door is wood grain so there is no wory of the duct tape pelling off the paint. Looks good though. I could imagine its half full of flies by now!! I wish I was. I have not been home enough to even tye one fly
  22. QUOTE (Wooly Bugger @ Aug 10 2005, 02:08 PM) In a pile next to my vise . WB Thats what I have now and well I don't like it.
  23. Thanks for the ideas, I think I will use them if my setup does not do what I would like it to. I had a few pieces of white foam so I duct taped it up to the wall first and then decided on the door I covered over instead. here it is, also you can see my tying area. Yes that is a bobber you see, a friend left it at my house. I swear.
