  1. I gave my middle school teachers lots of "stuff"! Trust me, you wouldn't want it.
  2. Rainbow, Brown, Cutthroat, Brook, Bull Trout. Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. Rock Bass, Bluegill, Bullhead, Channel Catfish. Creek Chubs, I have also caught a bunch of frogs. I'm way behind you guys!
  3. thanks for the info Steve!
  4. This fall when the dog blows his coat again I will collect enough hair for a hundred guys to use. I have an unlimited supply of white and dirty gray dubbing and longer outer coat. He doesn't seem to lose any of the black hairs. This is going to be really interesting to learn to use this material! I'll be ready for the next swap for sure!
  5. It has been a dream of mine since I was ten years old to catch a tarpon on a fly rod. I remember watching American Sportsman and seeing Curt Gowdy catch giants! I think I may be finally getting to the point in my life that I can actually do it. These pics just stoke the coals!!!
  6. I have caught four this year...five if you count creek chubs!!! LOL!
  7. Steve, I am curious how much time you have to spend doing maintenance on those tanks. I would love to have one but I am afraid I won't have enough time to take care of it.
  8. The long Husky hairs are pretty buoyant. I need to use more weight on my next tries. The flies I tied yesterday and used last night wanted to ride upside down until they were very saturated with water.
  9. I recently wrote about this kind of giving. We give not only to the deserving but to the undeserving as well. God can sort it all out later.
  10. Caught my first bass and first bluegill of the year on my 5wt. Caught 20+ fish in all. A very nice evening at the secret lake! That poor fly has caught dozens of rainbows and a 16" brown this month, plus all the fish today.
  11. Yeah tell me about it. I've made at least 8 trips to Lowes in the past week alone and not a single trip did I walk out with less than a $50 receipt. The tank alone has to be a lot of money to get up and running. I have done smaller set-ups but nothing on that grand scale. It is going to be amazing!
  12. It looks like you are dialing in a killer fly! Good work.
  13. In theory it should work as good as a hook eye. I will give it a try a few more times and see how it goes. I know it is much easier to tie a new tippet to the leader standing in the stream than to tie a new tippet ring on.
  14. That is looking really nice! You have the wheels in my head turning though. That can only cost me money.
  15. I have to try that one! It is about that time.
  16. I am going to come up with a husky fly soon so I can get in on the next one!
  17. Those are special memories caught in photos. I am not as jealous of the fish you caught as I am that you have those memories preserved so beautifully.
  18. My best friend recently passed away from glioblastoma, a fast-moving cancer of the brain. I spent a lot of time with him during his illness and took him fishing. It was time well-spent and I pray that someone spends that kind of time with you. If I was closer I would take you fishing. I hope you find someone to do that or just sit and talk fishing with you. I know it means a lot to you.
  19. Thanks for causing me to waste the first 90 minutes of my work day...lol! That is some amazing stuff right there. It would have made a great episode of 'My Name Is Earl'.
  20. I tried one last trip and promptly had a not form with my tippet and leader around the ring. Probably due to my sloppy casting but I had to cut it off and didn't put another on. No verdict yet from me.
  21. or you can find it here in smaller quantity: http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/SM-700470-0000/59000/UNI-Products-UNI-Mohair.html
