  1. Thanks @Mogup ! Yep time to get those jaws dirty! And Nice Hemingway Special! Your inspiring me to learn some dry flies!
  2. Stimulator attempt. I am just learning and using what materials I have on hand. This one is my 2nd attempt. I think the thread head is too big, the tail is too long and the abdomen and thorax are too short. But I really enjoyed tying it and once they get better I will really enjoy fishing them too!
  3. @Bimini15 what is that second streamer called?
  4. I will have to get some dowels and make one. Looks great! Nice Vise!!
  5. Great Idea and simple. I think I will be making one of these....
  6. I did not make this bowl. A friend of mine did. He left the square bottom on it so I use it as a fly bowl. The material holder spring on the vise is just a random stainless steel spring from home depot. I used thread to wrap it in place. I also have a really small screwdriver that I bent the end into a hook shape. I use it as a dubbing spinner. The other thing is what I use to let Fly cement dry. It is a Pen shaft with a Zip tie running from an AR15 strap mount up through the top and back down. I just put the hook in the opening and slide the shaft up to lock it into place. the metal Strap mount counter balances it all and keeps it standing up straight.
  7. Thanks man! Super happy with the new vise!
  8. Sorry! Here is the new Dyna Kind Professional! I really like the vise and the bobbin holder. Its all rock solid. I put my pinky finger on the bobbin holder when I am applying glue to steady My hand. Works great. Really happy with this set up. My old Renzetti Traveler is great but this thing is built like a tank in comparison. I was really surprised at how heavy this new vise is.
  9. Still not getting a good taper but I learned a lot on this one. Micro Game changer bugger Hook - Kona BGH #6 4- 8mm, 1- 15mm articulated micro spines Marabou 1/2 inch streamer brush Renzetti Hen saddle Spirit river real eyes Rubber legs
  10. Here is a short clip showing the tester running. I think its pretty cool. You can adjust the speed of the water pump to simulate the situation you plan on using the flys in. The fishing line runs from out of the tank down into the tank and hooks under a little metal hanger in front of the tunnel. There are little black rubber cork like plugs that you use to hold the line. You just lay the line across the opening and push in the plug to hold it.
  11. Great point on catching anglers. I am thinking about building a bigger one as well. You can get acrylic cylinders, fish tank pumps, and fishtanks from amazon pretty cheap. If you build one you can even put in a fish tank filter to keep all of the hair and feathers cleaned out of the water. This one is nice as it does not take much space and is portable. I am enjoying using it as a part of the learning process. Thank you!
  12. Thanks! Looks like another great option!
  13. Also not sure... do we need permission from someone?
  14. All I am trying to say is that if we start a topic and only post patterns we could use the search function built into this site to find the patterns we are looking for by name.
  15. I am interested in contributing some patterns. @Landon P will a google doc support a search function to find the fly we are looking for? Once we have 100s of patterns listed will we have to scroll through them all to find what we want? Will they be in alphabetical order? I am totally behind you on this but I am not sure a word doc is the best format. Would simply starting a topic that is just patterns work? Please understand that I am not being a naysayer. I just want to help. I think you have a great idea. I went to the first page of October Flys from the vise. Then I clicked in search in the top right of the screen. Then I checked "this topic" then I typed in Pike fly. It turned back results for every post that mentioned Pike Flys. I then typed in caddis and every post that mentioned the word caddis popped up. I think if we just Started a new topic under The fly tying bench it might work. We would just need to reframe from commenting to keep it all clean. just post patterns with pictures. If we could get someone to pin it to the top of the Fly tying bench list it would be great. Not sure if that made sense...
  16. Hi, I made a quick video of some flies in the Fly Tester. I have posted pictures of these flies here before. The tester really brings to light some of the errors I have made with the game changers and how it effects the action. The Yuk Bug really surprised me. In slow motion I could see lots of movement. Anyway nothing ground breaking here I just thought the footage was cool so I wanted to share it here.
  17. @jaydub thanks for the history. I had no idea. I am going to give it a try in the water? Thanks
  18. Prince nymph attempt. #12 hook Bead 70 denier thread tail brown biots Body peacock herl Gold tinsel wrap Hackle brown hen saddle Wing white biots Some hard as nails to keep it all together. I did notice after taking the picture that the wings are curving up instead of down.....LOL Im gonna fish it anyway.
  19. Yep. Thats truth. I bet its more dangerous driving to the beach than wading with the sharks.
  20. Oh Great! October is peak shark season. No thank you sir.. I would fish from the dry sand.
