Hello everybody, This is my first post on an online forum, and I'm looking for a few suggestions. The wife and I will be taking a trip to Montana to fish the Madison, and surrounding rivers in late spring/early summer this year. I live in Florida, and almost all of my flyfishing has been Warmwater/Saltwater, with VERY limited experience with freshwater trout. I consider myself to be an experienced flytyer, and an average flycaster. I already have a 6 wt. flyrod/reel combo with WF line. Can anybody out there recommend a good selection of flies for the Madison River/surrounding area that I should start tying, as well as any hints/tips on flyfishing for trout in that part of the country? I thank you all in advance for your responses, and will check back with the forum every day or so.

I really like the look of all these catgut flies but cant seem to find the material available from any US sources. I live in Central FL so my only option is online. All the sites I have found it at are in Europe and paying for shipping for a few bucks of catgut seems absurd. Anyone know of any domestic sites that stock the stuff?

Hey folks just rounding off a 4 month fly-fishing trip in new zealand (will make a long post about it in flyfishing section when i get back home). One thing i discovered whas that dozens of flies i had tied in preparation were almost useless as the fish would simply straighten the hook. A bit frustrating (but a nice problem to have at the same time). I previously tied alot on kamasan b100 and they all got straigtened, Six months ago i switched to b110 which have been holding up ok. I tied a dozen nymphs on some carp hooks i had laying around which performed very well. My question is if you guys have any tips on hooks/companies/ebay deals for some very heavy wire hooks suitable for nymphs, I'm looking for sizes 8-12, couple hundred each. Tight lines Hugo

Well, this is like the 4th fly tie. I cant even see what im doing as i go along. I take pictures after each step and look at them on the phone camera to make sure im in the area. I cant even imagine trying to get a leader into this?? Any inputs, suggestions about anything even remotely associated will be greatly appreciated.
