Wing - Off-white swan*

Norm - I noticed you mention using goose as a substitute for certain feathers in your last couple of posts. I recently read an article by the great classic salmon fly tyer Ron Alcott about the use of subs in that particular type of fly. What he pointed out was even back in the heyday of classic salmon fly tying, the tyers of that time never hesitated to use whatever was available. It wasn't always swan, Indian crow, chatterer, bustard etc.

Your use of subs and making sure people know that is an important point who feel that only the "real thing" must be used...and that isn't the case at all.
