Cyperts Minnow with variations. Used boa yarn instead of chenille for body. Also different Mylar tubing for the back and belly.

Bead - Clear silver lined seed bead or brass or tungsten bead, color your choice
Thread - Color your choice
Tail - White z-lon or antron
Under body - Metallic flash, color of choice or tying thread
Over body - Plastic micro tubing or v-rib
Wing case - A short bud or loop of metallic flash
Gills - A collar of ostrich herl, choice of color

  • Thread: 8/0 or 70 DN, Black
  • Tail: Base Feather from Hackle, Chickabou or Marabou, Black
  • Flash: Krystal Flash, Red
  • Body: FNF Fritz Jelly Black & Krystal Flash Chenille (medium) Blood Red, twisted then wrapped. 
  • Boobie Eyes: Sybai Foam Cylinder, 7 mm, Black

Streamer nymph, alot of crappie caught on this

brown or tan marabout tail, aberdeen hook, orange thread, cream antron body, krystal flash wing. a few of the strands are left circular.

Been tying classic salmon flies most of the month, lots of failed attempts left me with a pretty good collection of remnants I couldn’t bring myself to toss.  Made some freestyle mixed wing flies with the left overs of the wings that didn’t work out.

Tail - Golden pheasant crest
Ribbing - Oval gold tinsel
Body - Black floss
Hackle - Black - longer than usual
Wing - Impali or black calf tail
Cheek - Jungle cock

Trout - Ray Bergman

*The recipe calls for a tip or tag of wool but the drawing shows a butt of wool. That's how I tied it.
