troutchaser30 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 Hey Gang, Like most of you, I'm struck with cabin fever right now and cranking out flies left and right. Does anyone know if fully-cured/tanned coyote fur is available out there? In particular, I'm looking for belly fur for streamers. Let me know if you get the chance. Thanks. mwtroubum 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 You can get a whole hide from Gander Mountain for around. I think they are around 100-150....thats the whole hide. Otherwise check out Stone River Outfitters......or Crazy Crow Trading Post. That should give ya a good start. One other option is to look for a local Rendevous..always lots of interesting stuff at those....hides and people...lol..... Good Luck

utyer 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2008 Check out this link to Freemans, which was mentioned as a place for inexpensive hackle http://www.freemansflytying.com/index.html They have the fur in patches, you make no payment until you recieve your order. What can be better than that? YOu can email and ask for the part of the coyote you need fur from.

feathers5 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 What flies can you tie with coyote fur. I've never seen a pattern that called for it. I realize that doesn't mean you can't use it--looking for some ideas.
Guest Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Troutchaser, You can try http://www.flytyingfurs.com/ They have pieces for around $2.50 but you'd have to check which part of the hide it comes from. The other one you can try is http://www.hideandfur.com/ under skins they have some really big pieces of coyote skins for around $30, but again you'd have to check with them what part of the skin it is. Also check their miscellaneous section as they sometimes have fly tying packs, or if you want to try a certain piece of fur and don't want to spend a fortune. Not affileated with either place just a satisfied customer. Fatman
