Favorite tying material?

Recommended Posts

I really like deer hair. Everything thing form body hair to tails and belly. Not a huge fan of the bleached died stuff, it seems to change the hair to much. But I do like the natural died stuff.

Whiting saddles, I remember the days prior to Metz where you'd have to use 3 hackle stems to do one dry fly, for an even barbule lenght. For me that has been one of the biggest significant changes.

Cheers, Futzer.

I have a ton of tying materials I like to use, so don't have a single favorite. Rabbit & fox fur are up there near the top of the list!

#1. Liquid Lace, because you can do so much with it. Nothing beats it for a segmented body.IMO

#2 Dubbing Supreme , Because it really dubs a nice body and is easy to use.

#3 Canadian Mohair Yarn because it come in so many colors and when I'm in a big hurry , I can just give it a haircut an it becomes a dubbed body. I do save the cut sections to use as dubbing though . That way none gets wasted.

I like:

SLF dubbing, foam, floss, all parts of pheasant, whiting hackle, rubber legs, marabou, and rabbit. No real order, though.
