Here is my first mantis, what do you think?

A really good piece of work. But with all the details and work done to the legs and the body, maybe the head deserves a little more attention to match the quality of the details on the rest of the fly?

I would try to find something to cover the different parts of the mantis; giving a more natural appearance and hiding thread turns.

The Hook is a streamer hook 94720 #2 its 9X long. We use it for salmon fishing in high water of the spring.
