Which vise is better

the vise debate on this forum has been played out over and over and over

head out to your local fly shop, sit down with their demo vises and tie a few flies. pick the one that is BEST for YOU.

I agree with all he said. I have 5 vises at my house and when I inherited 2 nice ones recently, it wasn't until I started tying with them that I was able to form an opinion on which I liked best. In fact, the one that looks nicer isn't the one I prefer. test out a bunch, see how you like them. some vises i think have a crowded area to tighten the hook down. but, there's more to a vise than that.

There is no one answer. For some it's a LAW for others it's an inexpensive fixed head.

 

Let's start with your budget and whether or not you want inline rotary.

Im happy with my LAW but HMH, Renzetti, and Regal all have excellent vises.
