Robert M 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 Full this ones under way In honor of my upcoming 50th Birthday I thought I would give myself and a dozen other swappers a present. This Swap is for fresh water bass flies that originated before 1961 (50 Years ago) Okay the particulars Standard Rules Apply with these exceptions: 1. This swap is open to all International Swappers if they wish to participate (we can work something out on time and postage) 2. I am not setting a hard date to finish until the swap is filled and I have conversed with all tier's on how long they need to tie and post their patterns tentative date is May the 14th but it may vary due to complexity of a pattern or postage time. 3. No TBD's you must state a pattern at the time of shout out. 4. Please supply me with a direct email address by PM after you have joined the swap Tie a dozen pre 1961 bass flies you can tie these as close to the original as you can make them or you can tie a modernized version of the original pattern. rich5665 0 Report post Posted March 30, 2011 I'm in with the Dazzler. Based on the add referenced in the link the wing looks to be some form of feather the tail maybe marabou. The body was made from "Christmas Spangles" Red, Green, Gold, or Silver Cellophane. I found a photo of a Black Dazzler and a Scarlet Dazzler http://thebasspond.com/reply/10175/1918--B...ory#reply-10175 The wing looks to be made from Buck Tail, not sure about the tail. The closest thing to the body would be cactus chenille.
