SilverCreek 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2013 Blue dun is very hard to get. I have been told that good quality "natural" blue dun is probably the hardest hackle to find next to Cree. As I understand it, natural blue dun tends to have poor stem quality when compared to other natural colors. I would ask the opinion of other tyers whether the better buy is to purchase a dyed cape/saddle rather than getting a natural blue dun.
keep_lookingup 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2013 I agree with ColindaFlyguy. I have always thought Dun was a term more than a color. A friend of mine had some capes from the 50's that were labeled Blue Dun and it was a smokey steel dun.

ColindaFlyguy 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2013 Some capes are dyed light with blue. i just dyed some feathers with Kool-aid with a blue packet and the cream hackle was changed to a dun.
