Piker20 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2012 I like the green my self just a tad more, the green goose biot was a disappointment tho... the olive shade to the biot is the bit that drew me too it. Thats what I like about this thread there's a fly in it for everyone.
lykos33 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2012 Gentleman had "moose" for sale on Kijiji. I responded and found out he was only 40 miles or so away. I go to meet him and he invites me in, as I'm taking my wallet out he says,"No, no ,no...you drove a long ways for that, don't worry about it...and look thru that bag of turkey feathers and pick out what you want or need..." I ended up sitting and shooting the breeze for 45 minutes with him (much to my wife's ire...in the van) and now have a local willing to show me the ropes around Cape Breton. He ended up giving me 2 patches of moose hair (2 colors) , a patch of moose mane (4x6 inch each) and a few turkey feathers with an invite to come again...what a great feelin'. Below is a moose hair fly treated with Albolene..

CTobias 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2012 CTobias, those are beautiful flies, but I have to ask, was the one with heavy thread used for a hook eye planned that way or a save from failing to plan ahead? I've never noticed that done before. Either way, beautiful flies. Thanks for the compliments Heavy. It is dacron backing and the fly is tied on a blind eye hook like stated before. It add a lot of action the the flie in the water as well since there isn't a stiff point where you connect the fly to the leader.

C LeBo 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2012 Looks like I'm gonna break the trout fly streak, but here is a bass fly I've been testing for a while. I have to admit, it looks pretty goofy but works great for shallow feeding bass, or you can use dumbell eyes to get it a little deeper, but it has a lot of life in the water. I hope it gets you the next big one! Hook: Streamer hook of choice, Size #8-4 Thread: Brown, olive, or red 6/0 Tail: Chartruese Marabou, sparse Body: Olive Floss Rib: Gold Wire Thorax: Peacock herl and loose red antron dub Beard: Orange egg yarn and red yarn Wing: Olive rabbit strip Eyes: Bead Chain or dumbell eyes Thank you, Carson LeBoeuf
