hexfli 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2005 Looking to hear what kinds of patterns have been most successful for Great Lakes area carp... I have done well on small hex nymphs and damsels. I have been a tying fool over the past few weeks tying carp patterns, just looking for some patterns I may have missed. Thanks!! Eli
Guest Report post Posted January 24, 2005 small crawfish patterns such as this one this is tied by tony pagliei who fishes for carp in the grand river around lansing. he has a ton of patterns that he uses and a couple of videos out about fishing for golden bones too. also, check the troutsman (i think that is their name). they are out of traverse city and guide alot out on the flats for carp. Pujic 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2005 Hi Eli, I've had pretty good luck around the shores of Lake Ontario with the following patterns. The dragon fly nymph fooled my biggest this year, a nice 34lb female in late Spring. http://onlineflytyer.com/showfly.asp?record_ID=179 http://onlineflytyer.com/showfly.asp?record_ID=61 http://onlineflytyer.com/showfly.asp?record_ID=232 http://onlineflytyer.com/showfly.asp?record_ID=228 Also, having a few size 8 woolly buggers on hand never hurts! Cheers, Nick
