6'6" 3wt retro glass rod

Recommended Posts

This one is the latest off the bench. I'm kind'a torn between trying to decide if I want to sell this one, or keep it for myself. This one may end up finding it's way into my personal rod rack, not sure yet. It's a 6'6" 3wt 3pc with dark walnut insert set in nickle silver reel seat hardware. Grip is all natural cork in a classic Fenwick style shape. Wraps are the now discontinued Gudebrod red/black classic twist with snake style guides.

Nice rod. You've got two new rods to play with ... and it's not like you can't just build another one anytime you want.

But then again, that is made with discontinued thread material.

Did that help you choose ??

Have you fished it yet Steve? I would sure like to read a report on your first wet outing with this rod. Very nice but I think I liked the wraps that you showed a while back there they almost blended in with the blank. Everybody had their own taste. Maybe in my case lack of.

Yep, it is a smooth casting rod like most glass blanks are. I would say "slightly" faster than some of the older glass blanks like Fenwicks were, but still very parabolic in feel.

OK all you proud 3wt owners...the challenge glove has been thrown down.

Check out Youtube for 'Monster Grass Carp on a Flyrod'. A 3 to 4 footer on a 3wt! Local water too.

Actually we have them in Reston's lakes about that size. I have spooked them but never figured how to trick the vegetarian devils onto a hook.

Steve, you could start a contest for the biggest fish landed on your new rods. I've had some small bass bend the rod down into corks already but nothing that size.

Hey Rocco that is a great idea IMO. I need another rod like I need another hole in my head but if have been mauling around the idea of getting one of these rods. My only problem is we don't seem to have many carp in my immediate area and I have been looking. Gotta be around here somewhere. I am tired of smelling of skunk.
