ihang10 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2015 So, help me visualize what a purple biot wing might be? I think of biots wings as in Prince nymphs. Same thing, but purple?
Henrik Thomsen (DK) 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2015 HOOK: #10 THREAD: black 8/0 TAIL: grizzly cock BODY: muskrat RIB: blue Krystal Flash WING: purple biot HACKLE: grizzly cock HEAD: red thread Did change the hackle (reasonable substitute?). And the tail... Think this bugger need to emmerge to the surface world. Hope it's ok, else let me know. Got other ideas too. For name, how about "Crowning the King"... rockworm 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2015 A witty and appropriate name, professori! And Henrick is quick off the mark. I agree that grizzly cock can be considered a reasonable substitute- especially if our beast is changing its environment.

ihang10 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2015 It's time to walk, or hop as it may be. Checkmate: HOOK: #6 THREAD: White 140 TAIL: grizzly marabou BODY: white craft foam RIB: chartreuse Flashabou Legs: grizzly silly Collar: grizzly cock HEAD: white craft foam Let me know if this jumped too far up the evolutionary chain. I'll go back a step or two on the ladder but it seems like a logical conclusion.
rockworm 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2015 hang10 Evolution proceeds by single (usually) small changes. If you look back over the patterns offered by your fellow swappers you will see that each differs from the pattern before it by at most one major changes. (An additional change of hook size by one size is also permitted.) Your submission (which looks like a excellent fly) contains 6 changes. In fact, all you retained of your parent pattern was the collar. Please review the directions in my first post and resubmit your contribution.

Henrik Thomsen (DK) 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Ok, the purple biots seems kind of tricky to find for me in the shops I normally frequent. Can anyone help, or will pink be ok? Else I will need to find some whites and then use a permanent felt marker.... /Henrik
rockworm 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Much better hang! Looks like we are out of the water!
rockworm 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Henrick- The marker sounds like a quick and easy solution. I bet you would get good results using a purple marker on your pink biots.
Henrik Thomsen (DK) 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Rockworm>> Thank you.I will be travelling the next two weeks, and will not be able to tie up the flies before mid june, but should be timely enough right?
rockworm 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2015 Henrik- I was hoping to have this swap wrapped up by July 1. But YGDWYGD (Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.) I can't start my work here until I have all your flies.
rockworm 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2015 Sounds like the first flies are on their way. (Thanks for the quick work, Sharon!) Remember everyone: You DO NOT need to toe tag your flies and you will not get your original container back. (So make it cheap and disposable.)
