Recommended Posts

I have european red fox and it is coarser than arctic fox but less coarse than stoat and pine martin. Definately handy to have in the inventory.

Check here at Waters West - they list up to 1/2 tails but You could call and check with them, and yes I've ordered from them.

Lure parts online - they don't have a lot of colors though. and yes I've ordered from them before

You could also order plain white ones and dye them yourself. Too many places now are cutting pieces (called circles) of the tails and charging big money

Have you ever used the Himalayan Mountain Goat from Waters West? It's just half the price of artic fox tail. If it has the same movement it might be an option. Just wondering. Thanks

Goat is much finer and straighter than fox. It wont hold a profile like fox can. It is used primarily in salmon flies as mobile over wing. On top of fox. Or as a tail. It tangles much more easily in the hook than the coarser fox hairs.

A useful hair but not a replacement for fox.
