Kodiak Commando 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2005 I have never tried shining beads but do know some lure fisherman use toothpaste to take the dullness of metal lures, maybe it will work fore beads.
atroutbum2 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2005 Arn you supposed to loose the flies on snags before the beadheads get a chance to tarnish

lanvaettir 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2005 Dip the bead in Tarnex or something but I bet they will work just as well in their tarnished state. I've never noticed a difference.
sparkleminnow 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2005 No doubt the Tarnex will make them shine, again, but I would rather keep the smell of that stuff off of my flies. If you use Spirit River Gold beads they are coated with real gold, not polished brass. They will keep their luster far longer than any other bead. I can't help you with the ones already tarnished. Joe Hard 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2005 Coat them in a high gloss head cement of any colour you like. Even a marker of your choice will make them shine.
Al Beatty 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2005 Hi LeftyPA, When I was in the military we used Brasso to shine metal things. It should work on bead heads as well. Take care & ... Tight Lines - Al Beatty www.btsflyfishing.com
